I have a jar of pickle slices that won't open.
Anyone have any tips or tricks to get jars (of anykind) to open??

tap on the edge of the lid with the blunt end of a butter knife, gently at first but even if you dent it it should break the seal. I have never had luck with hot water but tapping the edge of the seal almost always works.

I have one of those rubber grip pads that I use but I can remember when I was little that my mother would hit the lid gently on the sides with a knife and that would break the vacuum seal.

When amy of my jars don't open, I usually get my hubby to open them, but also, try using a butter knife around the jar lid to loosen the vacuum seal, or turn the jar upside down and use the palm of your hand and smack it a few times (don't hit it to hard to break the jar though) that usually works for me, or a towel on the jar lid to get a beeter grip. or one of those rubber grippie thingies.... :D

Put the jar under your arm and hit it on the bottom with the palm of your hand a few times.

For jars with small lids, I use my nutcracker. For others, I use the point of a punch-top can-opener and run it under the rim of the lid until the seal breaks.

I just turn the jar over and tap the whole top of the jar against the counter a couple of times.

The rubber grip thing or tapping the jar against the counter. Drives DH crazy though because he's afraid I'm going to break one of the tiles... but I haven't done so yet.

Gosh cant you just tap the bottom of the jar with a hammer????????lol
Hitting the bottom with the palm of your hand or around the lid with the butt end of a knife is what i do.

I use a punch type can/bottle opener, and just pull the side of the lid away from the jar until the seal breaks. You don't have to pull far. Always works for me.

Wrapping a rubber band around the lid before you twist it will help as well.

If all else fails an ice pick through the center of the lid will break that pesky vacuum seal. LOL works everytime. ;) ;) ;) :D
