They are hang tags that are coupons, and they're attached to the wine bottles. I think they usually say if you buy that wine then you can use the coupon off of another specified product. But my understanding is you don't have to buy the wine in order to use the coupon, even though most of them say that you do.

So like can you just go up to the wine bottle and steal its tag?

Some think it's stealing; some don't. I don't personally take them. I'm not a wine drinker so there's no reason for me to go down that aisle.

The only winetags I've ever seen is what my sister and I use. It's a little ring with different charms on each one to fit around the stem of a wine glass. They usually come in sets of 12, each different to identifly your glass from everyone else.

:p Don't feel confused I saw my first wine tag two months ago my sister inlaw gave me wine glasses she decorated for my new home. I thought she made them herself ( the tags ) until i went to the dollar store down the street and they had all diffrent kinds. Yes there was 12 in a package.

Yes, some people take them without buying the wine..here they don't come on the wine bottles, but on coupons pads, that are found in the wine isle.

Some people consider it stealing (think tags were intended for those buyign the wine), some don't.

These wine tags have differnt deals on them, like $1 off meat, $1 off milk, $1 off fresh produce. They also have them for cheese, flowers, dairy products, etc.

Wine tags = what the bartender gives you when you have had your share! LOL!

Just teasing. Too much cold medicine my way.

I do believe that some of us grocery shoppers need to spend much more time in the alcohol section of the stores! Maybe we'll find some wine tags too! LOL!

You don't sound dumb at all. I didn't know what they were either until I posted and asked someone. Last year when we went to California was the first time I'd ever seen one....we don't have them down here in Texas.

You never know til you ask!!!! ;) ;)

I guess we wouldn't have them here in Rhode Island because our grocery stores don't sell alcohol. :(

Wine Tags easily identify your wine. Each tag fits snugly over the bottle-neck to provide an instant identification of your wine without the need to withdraw the bottle from the wine rack to read the label. (Such as red or white, name, year, etc...)

Also, as previously said, the wine glass charms that identify a persons drink are also sometimes known as wine tags.

I found the winetag coupons on ebay - 3 different items. One was for ribs.
They had photos too.
