If possible, celebrate Beltane in a forest or near a living tree. If this is impossible, bring any type of small tree within the circle, preferably potted.

Create a small token or charm in honor of the wedding of the Goddess and God to hang on the tree. You can make several if you desire. These token can be bags filled with fragrant flowers, strings of beads, carving, flower garlands -- whatever your talents and imagination can conjure.

Arrange the altar, light the candles and censer, and cast the Circle.

Invoke the Goddess and God.

Stand before the altar and say, with wand upraised:

"O Mother Goddess, Queen of the night and of the Earth;
O Father God, King of the day and of the Forests,
I celebrate Your union as nature rejoices in a riotous
Blaze of color and life. Accept my gift(s), Mother Goddess
and Father God, in honor of Your union."

Place the tokens on the tree.

Say:

"From Your mating shall spring forth life anew;
A profusion of living creatures shall cover the lands,
And the winds will blow pure and sweet.
O Ancient One, I celebrate with You!"

Works of magick, if necessary, may follow.

Celebrate the Simple Feast.

The Circle is released.

Coven Beltane Ritual
Author Unknown

This is a fertility Sabbat in which the God performs the Great Rite with the Goddess. This holiday marks the final phase of planting.

You will need on the altar:

chime
wood for small fire (to be lit in a pit or cauldron, if outside. If indoors, use a large, three wick pillar candle)
plate of seeds
cups of soil equal in number to chose attending

The ritual:

The chime is run three times and the High Priest/ess begins by saying:

"Once again the Wheel turns.
Light dominates the Year
As we welcome the oncoming Summer.

In the coolness of the breeze we hear Her sighs;
Her heart is the rushing wind.
When we thirst,
Her tears fall upon us as gentle rain;
When we tire,
We rest upon the Earth that is Her Breast.

Through the days we gather unwanted negativity.
The Balefire cleanses the spirit."

The Balefire is lit and all stand around. The High Priest/ess says:

"Leap over the Balefire and purify thyself,
Leave behind negative thoughts
And make room for new ideas."

Each person leaps over the Balefire while stating a negative thought they wish to banish. When everyone is finished the High Priest/ess says:

"Like our Mother,
Our minds are open and fertile at this time."

The High Priest/ess passes out the cups of soil to each person, saying:

"Our mind is like the field
And we are limited only by our own desires."

He/She then passes out the seeds to each person, saying:

"Let us plant the seeds of thought, ideas, and goals."

Each person states a positive thought, idea, or goal then drops the seeds into the soil. When everyone is finished, the High Priest/ess says:

"We must be sure to care and tend to these needs."

All hold hands and everyone concentrates on their thoughts. The High Priest/ess says:

"As life within the Goddess grows and matures,
So, too, will our lives,
For we are a part of Her."

All gathered say,

"Blessed be!"

Close the circle as usual.
