I got a call about 2 hours ago.. it was my 22 y/o DD's hubby. he said "she was in a wreck, she broke both arms and hurt her head and back" well I was out the door before I was off the phone with him.

I get the the ER and theres my baby (yes shes still my baby) and aside from some burns from the airbag, shes fine. I was relived she was fine, but gawd I was SO upset on the way there... the tone of his voice sure scared me on top of the fact that I was thinking that if she had broken both arms, it was pretty serious.

Of course her biological mom came in about 45 min after we did. (I'm the "step" mom, but shes MINE!) and threw a fit because my dd refused any type of pain narcotic (shes trying to get prego) and I had to walk out and keep my mouth shut (or I would have been thrown out)

She has 2nd degree burs on her arms, chest and neck and shes pretty stiff, but they let her go home.

I am just now starting to wind down from it... nothing worse than not knowing when your kids are hurt :( And there nothing like knowing that they are ok :)

So glad to hear she is ok.

Now on to AIRBAGS...........those things can be more dangerous than helpful sometimes IMO
Yes they save lives but they also pop open at low speed crashes and injure occupants.

I had gotten on to her last summer for putting one of my lil ones in the front seat and explained to her that its not safe.... she told me today she was glad that she listened, because the force of the airbags was so hard, it could easily kill a child.

airbags are designed for at least 35mph front collisions. NOT SUPPOSED to go off on low speed crashes. (yes i know they've been known too), but what product out there hasn't broke or not worked when it should have.... i'll take burns from the air bags anyway over broken bones for flying through windshields anyday. my kids are always in the back away from them. i've known people who hate them and were terrified of them till they were in an accident and were saved by them.
