I am so sad, one of our cat was acting puny last night so we called the vet emergency # about 11. He said he probably had a cyst(he did by his tail) and that was why he felt so puny and didn't want to move. Last night I thought he acted like someone had poisoned him(didn't want to get up to pee, wouldn't eat, etc), but the vet didn''t think so. Told us he would be fine just give him ammoxicilian. This morning I got up early to get myself ready to take son to school, And the cat was laying on the kitchen floor dead. My DH(Who is at work by 6) left a note saying he couldn't find the cat and he hoped he was okay. It is my sons cat(he is 5, he named him Thomas after Thomas the Train, we got him when son was 2 or 3). We're not gonna tell him until after school about him. I am so sad and mad that one of my neighbors would poison the cat.

{{{HUGS}}} I am so sorry :((
When I was young, somone poisoned 2 of our dogs. I was only about 9 or 10 but I watched the 1st one die, knowing something was wrong, but not what and completelyfreaked out. And then the next day the 2nd started doing the same thing and I called my mom to come get her and they saved her....
Come to find out it was our across the street neighbor who did it. She was a miserable old "B" anyhow, but how can ANYONE kill a childs pet??

Just a thought... I saw this on the news a couple of days ago... Easter Lilies are toxic to cats. Not to dogs, just cats.

Also this time of year people start putting out fertilizers and other sorts of poisons on weeds. If a cat gets it on their paws and then licks it, the cat can be poisoned.
I am so sorry. We had a cat that had gotten fertilizer or a herbicide, from the corn fields behind us, in his system. He survived, but just barely.
Im so sorry :(
what is wrong with these people?? makes me angry when idiots do
these kinds of things to animals

It is for reasons like this that my four cats and two dogs stay indoors. Well, the dogs do go outside to use the potty, but I never leave them unattended for long. It's sad that in this day and age one cannot trust one's neighbors. Sorry again about your cat.

That really does stink. It is sad that someone can do that to an animal, especially when they know that it is a childs pet.

This happened to us also, my little brother found his little kitten swollen like a tick with foam around his muzzle, took it to the vet and it was ruled poisoning. We confronted the ppl that did it and the next week they moved, we never got a chance to press charges because there is no local animal control ASPCA :(

I am so sorry, I just can't write out just how bad I feel for you, I hope that whoever poisoned your cat will be punished in a way fitting for them. They will get back what they did. Hope your little boy takes it ok.

Thanks for all the kind thoughts everyone. We told DS when he got home from school and then had a kitty funeral. He was sad and said "He wished he'd taken better care of his Thomas cat so he wouldn't have died"(I almost bawled at that). We told him his kitty had gotten sick and it wasn't anything he did, that he took good care of Thomas and he was a happy cat before he got sick.
We did find a dead(half eaten) blackbird in the front yard yesterday, we thought someone might have poisoned the blackbirds and the cat ate it and got sick also  I hate to think my neighbors would be mean enough to poison animals, but there are some ruffkins living way at the end of the street, so who knows.

Could the bird have been infected with West Nile Virus? (not sure how long it takes to incubate, or how quick your cat would have died from it)
