This is the second day in a row that our mail has neither been picked up or delivered. I called the post office and all the lady told me is 'well, the box is empty so there should be no problems'. Well I can see if I have no mail to deliver but I put a letter in the box to be mailed yesterday morning and it is still there.

Any ideas on what I should do next?

Yep, thats what our postman told us. I complained about our daughters mailman because he didn't pick up her bills for 3 days and when I asked mine about it, thats what he told me. Pretty rotton if you ask me, but what can you do!?

Well that just stinks! :( We just moved and I have yet to see the mailman, I thought that since we lived so close to where we used to it would be the same mailman but maybe not. Our old one picked it up even if there was none to deliver.

Thanks for answering though, I was starting to get worried!

Unfortunately I have so many bills coming in, I don't have to worry about them not picking my mail up LOL

I've moved twice in the past 6 months and both times when I got the mail forwarding, they messed it up. The first time, I received my mail, and it was all post-marked from a month before. I had many angry calls about not paying my bills :(
The second time, they just didn't forward anything at all. I have been there for about 4 months and have yet to get a peice of forwarded mail. But this time I was prepared and called all my regular places to get my bills sent to the new house.
I usually don't put mail out, because I don't have a mail box right now, I just drop them in a box on the way to work.

Well, Dh got ticked and called the post office back again today. The lady told him that the mail carrier doesn't want to drive to the mailbox because it is a new house and there is no grass yet, only red dirt which is now red mud and she is afraid to drive through it. Well geez, I can understand that, but why couldn't they have let us know that was the problem? I know that they have a big job but surely someone could have let us know that if we want our mail delivered we have to put some gravel there instead of just not delivering it.

that to me isnt right, i thought they were supposed to deliver the mail anyway. to not want to do it cause of some mud just doesnt make since, that is why you have soap and water :p lol

At least you know why you havent recieved anything

Sounds like a bunch of hogwash to me. I'd be calling someones supervisor ...if your flag is up they have to pick up the mail....thats their job!

If flag is up we are required to stop. My guess would be the road conditions combined with it being a new box. Once we serviice a new box that does not fall into regulation it becomes a problem. But I would have tried to contact you. As far as forwards go, the CFS system in our area is implementing a new system and has been messed up since november. Many go through fine and for some reason the system dumps it out. you may need to resubmit.

Well, we live on a paved road, with lots of neighbors; and the mail was coming fine until it rained. There is no grass between the road and the mailbox(which is one of those big brick ones) and it is muddy but not to the point where a vehicle would get stuck, only maybe get its tires a little dirty. The mailbox is right beside the road, and our driveway is a big circular one that is paved, the mailman could have driven into it and let me know there was a problem. Anyway, there is still an old mailbox here from when someone else lived here years ago and we used that one and got our mail......thank goodness! :D

lol. maybe pull the new box out til u get the ground around there fixed up and they are forced to use the old box? Or like u said, dump some gravel down for now til things dry out and it can be fixed properly

My DD who lives 2 houses over from me has gone round and round with our local office. If there is a car anywhere near her mailbox, they will not deliver her mail. We live in a cul-de-sac and our boxes are on the street for the driver to just drive up to.

She didn't even know they weren't delivering her mail for a week until a car was moved and she got a TON of mail marked "undeliverable/ car in way"

We both call the post office and the 1800 # for USPS and they say that if there is a car blocking the mailbox, they do not have to deliver the mail... you;d think it would be simple and DD could just move her car, WRONG!!! its the neighbors who park their cars in the street and block her mailbox and even though she has explained to them what the problem is, they continue to park there. (our street is really weird and right in front of her mailbox is one of the few places on the street ppl park and not block a driveway)

I think its nuts, but luckily I have gotten to know our mailman a bit and now that he knows that its my DD and her family over there, he will put her mail in our box if hers is blocked.

Well, we put gravel out there yesterday so hopefully today we will get mail in it! He even tore the old box down so I sure hope the gravel is good enough for the mail lady!

He was pretty ticked when he saw her drive by yesterday though, since she was driving a brand new Toyota SUV!! Guess she didn't want to chance getting her new truck dirty!

If you can imagine we had a letter to be picked up yesterday and IT IS STILL IN THE MAILBOX. I am so ticked right now that I have my lawn chair ready, I am going to park my butt out beside my mailbox until she drives by today and I am going to throw mud at her as she sails on by.

The post office assures me that everything is fine except that she does not want to drive to our mailbox because of the mud..........there is no dang mud there anymore, it has been gravelled. Maybe I'll throw rocks instead.

About the cars blocking the box:

Would the post office let them move the box to the side of the driveway, where the carrier could pull into the driveway to put it in the box because of the cars?

Throw mud, and you will be picking your mail from the post office from now on. A complaint through consumer affairs seems to work best. Better yet, you should speak to the delivery supervisor. As far as boxes blocked by anything, cars, garbage, etc., you should have had a written warning first. :)

LMBO!!!! I really wasn't going to throw anything at my mailman!!

She stopped today though so hopefully things will be OK from now on.
