--Coat your lawnmower blades with vegetable oil to keep the grass
from clogging it up. A plant sprayer with oil makes it easier.

--Keep cats and dogs out of your flower beds by sprinkling with
black pepper.

--Grow a pot or two of basil for your patio dining area. Crushed
leaves repel flies.

--Cut flowers will last longer with equal parts vinegar and sugar
added to the water. ABout 1 teaspoon will do it.

--The best time to water is in the morning. Water has a chance to
reach the roots instead of evaporating or remaining wet throughout
the night, encouraging fungus growth.

--Don't put rocks at the bottom of your pots. They just raise the
water table and reduce the amount of soil for the roots. Use
crushed egg shells and larger pots for better drainage.
Never overwater. Better dry soil that too wet.

--Next time a plastic bread wrapper melts onto the toaster or
coffee pot, try this. Rub some petroleum jelly on the spot,
reheat the appliance and use a paper towel to rub off the
plastic and printing.

--To reduce cat hair around your house, gently rub a damp paper
towel over your cat. It collects both hair and dirt.

--When hanging a picture, heat the nail tip with a flame before
driving it into the wall. You won't crack or chip the plaster.

--Dry clean your dog during the winter months by rubbing baking
soda into its fur. Brush out with an old hairbrush.

--To keep shower doors shiny and clear, use a soft cloth moistened
with baby oil. It prevents scum build-up from dirt and soap.
And hard water spots won't appear for several months.

--To remove candle wax from carpeting, place a brown bag over the
wax and gently run a warm iron over the bag.

I tried the black pepper and my dogs competely ignored it. So when I moved in my house, I fenced in part of the yard for them and the rest for my plants.
