Follow through with your complaint to the health board. I'm pretty sure I had food poisoning recently. I filed a complaint with Environmental Health (health board) and they were very nice. I think they make a "surprise" visit. In my case nobody else had gotten food poisoning that day (at least nobody said anything) but they discovered the refrigeration wasn't up to par.

Frenchbread is usually hard at resteraunts. By the sounds of everything you ate Im not the least bit suprised that you got sick. I agree that the manager was probably rude. Call her higher up. Im not suprised she didnt credit your account though. As for the small dinner, Thats usually how it goes at expensive resteraunts. Sorry it didnt turn out as you had hoped.

The last person I talk to at the restaraunt was the owner don't belive there's anybody higher up then her. I ate quite bit of French Bread Fisherwharf in SF is know for it and I have never ate any this hard before. I wanted to post this so people will know about the place. Theres much better place in San Francisco for seafood like Pier Market Seafood at Pier 39.

I was wondering that also but i also wondered why you would go to such a fancy high priced restuarant and attempt to eat hard french bread?

At those prices i would of asked them for new bread!
Not eaten it.......lol

Sounds fishy........rotflmbo

I have eaten at this resturaunt,it's pretty good. The bread in San Francisco,is REAL sour dough ,it's meant to be a little tougher then other breads.

My absolute FAVORITE place to eat sea food is "THE PIER MARKET" on Pier 39. Sinbad's is good too.

I could tell you anywhere in SF to go lol from Little Italy to China town.

*I'm homesick now :(

Not to be rude, but the OP's letter does sound a bit "fishy," .. lol. It totally comes off as a "Manda" letter.

And if it is a for real problem, contact www.planetfeedback.com .. they may be able to help.

I wasnt trying to be rude. I tried wording everything so i wouldnt come off that way but yes, I do also believe something is fishy. I would have sent the bread back or not eaten it and Im really not suprised she got sick. I dont know anybody that could have not gotten sick after everything she ate. Im also guessing she was rude to the owner of the resturaunt and thats why she got the comment (not that it makes it OK, It doesnt) But All around something doesnt sound right.

I'm with Momster and Hillbilly on this one. So what if you think the letter is "fishy" for whatever reason. Some of the people making the snide and rude remarks are the same ones that would be throwing a huge hissy fit if someone else did that to them. I guess some people think they're above others around here and that the "hit the back button if you don't agree" rule applies to everyone but you. I'm sorry that happened to you sweetverna, and you certainly didn't deserve to be treated the way you were here either!

I would be throwing a fit as well....I dont care if the person ate at Mcdonalds...she should not have to be subject to gross, hard food, and yes I too would of wondered if the food was bad esp. if I went home ill after eating it:eek:
If the resturaunt is suppose to be sooo GREAT, then they sure as heck shouldnt be serving that type of food to anyone. The last thing a person should have to do is set and complain to the waiters and ask for better food, no-one has time to mess with such bull crap these days
I too would go leave feedback at Planetfeedback about this sooo called wonderful resturaunt:)

How cruel this is. Who cares what her grammar and spelling are? This person appears to have been a member of this board for a long time, and yet you pick her story apart for grammar alone? I have seen some posts here that are FAR more incredulous, and yet people take them at face value. How come this particular individual was not afforded the same opportunity? The use of grammar has nothing to do with the validity of of a situation.

Sweetverna, I hope that you don't let these mean spirited comments get to you. I also hope you are feeling better.

I totally agree, also she could have ate quite the list she gave as the meals are so TINY at those restaraunts. The treatments she received there and here seems mean. Verna, I am sorry about your experience. Thank you for posting what happened so anyone who reads it and is planning on going there will pick another dining establishment. It is frustrating to be treated like that over something you have every right to complain about. I would keep calling untill you get a hold of the owner.
Good luck kiddo :)

I think a lot of you need to grow up and practice what you preach in other posts about using the back button.

Verna, I'm sorry to hear about your experience with the restaurant and I hope you eventually get some satisfaction. Did you report them to your local health board? A surprise inspection might be in order. The letter to Planet Feedback is also a good idea, or maybe even a letter to your local newspaper.

I'm disgusted with the rude and insensitive comments made to you by some of our "elite" members. A couple of them were definitely personal attacks, and I thought that was grounds for banning.

Maybe those people were absent from kindergarten the day courtesy and kindness were being taught. Mean people suck!

It's obviously not a Manda letter. :) I can tell you why. She said nothing about her three or seven or eleven kids in the hot car/cold car. Or nothing about the kids meals being cooked wrong.

OR about Grandma's dead dog not coming back to life.

She did not complain that she tried to pay with her foodstamps/card and they wouldn't take it. And she said she did temp work, which is MUCH more than Manda would admit to. She proudly carries on the name of white trash welfare mom..

She did not ask for a settlement of many thousand dollars. Or free dinners for a year. All she asked for was a refund of purchase price.

(also sorry you were treated this way sweetverna)

I thought from her post she may be from another country and writing the best she could. Like someone from China or Thiland?

For the manager of the restaurant to accuse her of being on welfare was rude. And yes, we all need to learn how to complain to businesses poliitely in order for them to co-operate with us about our complaint. You'll get better results with a little sugar and not vinagar. Approach them the way you would want to be approached.

I hope you get all of this resolved to your satisfaction.

Actually the "Manda letters" were all written by a woman living in Portland Oregon. I've been to some of the places she's written about. Just one more wacko to give Oregon a bad name. LOL.

Sweetverna I'm so sorry that you've been treated so poorly by the restaurant staff and owner. That just wasn't right! In your position I would contact 1) the health department, 2) the Better Business Bureau, 3) Planet Feedback and/or a local consumer rights reporter. Or even a lawyer--that crack about you being on welfare is just too much! I hope you're feeling better and get your money back.

I'm *cruel*?!?! I hardly think that what I said qualifies as cruel. I even admitted to mispelling things bc I don't type well. I specifically stated that I wasn't trying to be mean, I was answering the other person's question for Pete's sake.

I do not see the point in calling the health department. If anyone else got sick that night at the resteraunt the owner would have been more than willing to refund her dinner. If she had a problem with the size of the dinner she should have said something while she was there. Again, We dont know how she was acting and talking to the owner on the phone. The crack about being on welfare was un-necissary but come on, Calling a lawyer?? I think that would be too much. I had a very hard time following the story the first time I read it, I had to go back and read it two more times so i knew everything that she was talking about before i posted. I dont think i said anything rude at all.

I also wanted to state that no one EVER said that we thought the original poster was manda. In the past members have found manda's letters on planet feedback and posted them. I was under the impression that sweetverna was simply posting one of manda's letters. Things were taken out of context.

I also want to be clear that don't think I have a great sense of grammar at times but the original post was almost difficult to follow and that is what made me think that it was a copy paste from planet feedback.

ahem - Amanda used to IM and never check her spelling or grammar. The "tone" sounded like an old friend - wishful thinking I guess.

If Sweetverna believes it to be a case of food poisoning - I would call the Board of Health. Most people pass off food poisoning as ' a case of the flu' and do not report it.

But ( and I know this will be an invitation to a flame  ) in order to be taken seriously, the OP needs to take herself seriously - by checking her spelling and using correct grammar and punctuation. Otherwise her complaint is llikely to be dismissed out of hand. Unfair ? YES. True ? Unfortunately.

*If* someone thought this was an new addition to the files of infamous "MANDA LETTERS" it could be because this was posted in OT ( where jokes, farce, and satire are found ) instead of V&W where complaints are posted or even FYI where warnings are listed.

This is true and not a joke and did happen and I wasn't rude to the owner or for her to talk to me like that. I went to the Health Board website here and they have 3 violations since Nov so their not perfect. I not going to sue the place but I will report them to the health board. I only ate a couple piece of the french bread and I didn't notice my tooth was missing until I almost was done. And I would never make up any stories like this I post things to tell other and to help find freebies. I post this so people will know about this place. I am doing okay and for the ones that ask thankyou for your concern. I was born here in CA. I sorry if my grammar is not correct I was just trying to tell what happen.

I have just returned home from vacation and actually got to sit down and read the boards. I am closing this post at the request of the op. However, I AM going to give my opinion on some of the posts I have read, and remind everyone of how these boards are to be used and how they are not to be used. I don't care what is being said about them now, or what excuses are made; there were MANY rude and tacky posts in this thread, and there really is no excuse. Period! If you have nothing constructive to add to a post, back out of it. If you think it's okay...sit back and wonder how you would take it, if it were being said to you. You may find, what you think is okay to say, might not be as "cool" if it were directed at you.

I'm so sorry for what happened to you Sweetverna, I'm also sorry for any bad feelings this post may have caused. It is now being closed.
