I don't post here very often, and this is only like the second thread I've ever started, but we really need as many prayers as possible. My daughter will be 15 months old this Saturday and she weighs like 15 pounds as of yesterday (she was up to almost 17). She eats like normal, but does not gain weight like she should. Lately, she has been throwing up a lot. It's almost like she can't keep anything down at all. All I keep hearing from doctors is that it's just a virus that is going around and it just has to run it's course. In the past few days, everything we have fed her, she has thrown back up. She will do really good for a few hours after eating, but then it comes back up again. I'm at my wits end. I don't know what to do to help her and I feel like I'm failing as a mother cause I can't make it better. I've missed a lot of work because of her being sick and it looks like I'm going to have to take a leave of absence at work until she gets better. If anyone has any ideas or thoughts on the matter, please, feel free to share them. But mostly, all I'm asking for is your prayers for my precious baby girl, as well as the rest of us, especially my 4y/o son who really doesn't understand what's going on.

prayers going up for you, your daughter, and your entire family.

My advice would be small servings of bland foods ..... like the brat dieat (Bananas, rice, applesauce, toast). Keep up the liquids - again small, frequest sips. If she vomits, refrain from food for a cpl hours, then try again slowly.

You are NOT a failure as a mom because of this, so get those thoughts right out of your head. Some things are beyond ebven the powers of us Mommies - and that's what God is waiting in the wings for. Turn it over to Him ... you'll feel better - and so will she!

There may be nothing wrong at all. When I was 1 I was 14 pounds and at 2 20 pounds. Rebeka was 16 pounds at 1 at 21 at 2. Michael was 17 pounds at 1 and 22 1/2 at 2. She may just be a small person by nature.

((PreciousDarlin&Daughter&Son)) I will keep you all in my prayers. My son had virus, he is almose 1 and he couldnt keep anything down at all, except he was able to drink the broth out of chicken soup. I hope she starts feeling better. If you are still worried about her tomorrow, take her back to the doctor, I know I did a several times to just be sure. Please keep us updated,

My son is 17 months old and only weighs 17 lbs. Those little ones lose weight fast when they are sick. Make sure she doesn't get dehydrated, and maybe get a second opinion. The rotovirus is going around in our area, and that could be it. Rotovirus usually has diarhea also, but not always. The brat diet has changed, it's now the braty. Bananas, rice, applesauce, toast and yogurt. Yogurt is very good for sick kids. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers, take care and keep us updated, Shelly csthompson@ndak.net

So far, the brat diet hasn't worked at all. She's at a point now where she is throwing liquids up as well. I've talked to two different doctors, explained all her symptoms, and both say that it's probably just a virus. I'm about to take her in and make them run tests until they can figure out what is wrong with her. Thanks everyone for the thoughts and prayers. I'll try to keep you updated as to where it goes from here....

Saying a prayer for You and Your family. It might be worth taking her to get her checked out. They might be able to give her something to stop her from vomiting.

If she isn't better in a day or two (and be SURE to keep pumping fluids, preferably water) into her to prevent dehydration) take her to her pediatrician. Or consider seeing a different one. It could be reflux, which is simple to treat. It could be many things, and we can't diagnose her here. If she becomes lethargic, call your doctor right away.

Good luck hon.

Bless her heart and yours to .I know you have to be worried near to death. All I would suggest is that you take her to a different doctor and be sure to let them know how many others have not helped. There has to be something they can give her to stop the vomiting.Maybe even call a druggist and ask him what you can give her.Just be sure to give her lots of fluids and if you can get to eat popcicles and keep them down ,at least that would be something.Pedialyte is good also if she would like the taste...Jello tends to stay down.
When my son was 12 ,this happened to him and he was in the hospital for a long time and the doctors never could tell me what was wrong. They tested him for everything and finally just told me it had to be a virus. He couldn't even eat a spoonful of Jello without it coming back up.This went on for weeks and he lost tons of weight .He was a skinny boy to begin with so he looked horrible .After several weeks he did finally get better but it was slow progress.
I will keep you and your baby in my thoughts and prayers and I hope everything gets better real soon (((hugs)))

Pedialite or maybe it is spelled pedialyte (my son is 21 so it was a long time ago that I last bought some) is great. I gasped at first when I read her weight and age but calmed when other moms seemed to think she might just be a tiny person. I am used to big boys.

I would definitly get a second opinion if she doesn't improve soon. I'll say a prayer for your sweet baby girl, your little boy and you. I remember how hard it is to have a sick baby and feel helpless.

Is the doctor okay with her weight?

Good luck and I hope the whole family is feeling better quickly.

Get your daughter referred to a specialist, demand that someone see her immediately. she and your family are in my prayers.

No, her Pediatrician is not okay with her weight. He still has her on formula and has been having me mix it with less water to make a richer mix since she was 9 months old. She had gotten up to almost 17 lbs before she got sick. At first, the vomiting was only every couple of days, but in the past week or so, it's become an everyday thing. She hasn't kept anything down today. I took her to a different doctor yesterday and he is the one that gave me the phenergan suppositories to give her. They work for about 4 hours, but that is the time at which I am supposed to start feeding her again. When I feed her, she throws up again and then I'm supposed to give her another suppository and wait 4 more hours to feed her anything else. She is Starving! I just don't know what to do anymore...I'm at my wits end.

I would also go see some kind of specialist. It may be just a virus but just to make sure it's not something else.
I will keep your little girl in my prayers and keep us posted.

I am praying for her. My son had problems once he started to eat solid foods. He would be fine for a few hours after he ate then would start crying and cry for hours and get the runs. I found out he has a disease called celiac disease. Ask your doctor if this could be what she has. If you want to try to test to see if it is celiac take away all products with wheat, rye, oats, and barly. I hope that she can keep something down soon.

I am sending {{{hugs}}} and praying for you all! I sure know how you feel. If all else fails take her to the ER. I do not know where you live but if you are close to a childrens hospital with an ER take her there. This is not just a vires. That is just a cop out on the doctors part.

Don't want to worrie you but have the doctor check her for diabetes! Just a finger or toe poke is all it takes. My son started throwing up just like she did. Than it got wore all the time. Just please have her checked!

Please keep us updated on her! {{{Hugs}}} to a GREAT mom!
