Can't the operator, in time of an emergency cut in on your internet service to get a phone call through?
I know they can if you're talking on the phone...

I dont see why they couldnt beings it goes through your phone lines.

i know they can interrupt if there is a conversation goin on, but if there is no conversation its like dialing a number and getting a fax machine, all they will get are the tones from your modem, however it may be enough to disconnect you... but if you dial right back up they still won't be able to get through.

with phone line going to computer there is no way to break in the line unless you have one of those deals that alerts you when a call comes in and you are on the puter.......

When we were on dial up my mil would call and I would get knocked off, she told me she would only have to call 3 times to do it, don't know if she is right or not though, personally I used callwave when I was online with dial up.
