I know someone on the board had this problem before but searching on this place is terrible... especially when the word is email LOL...

So here's the deal... my boyfriend is getting Message Failures for emails... but they are for emails that he's not sending...I seem to think that someone is using his email to send spam to ppl... he's getting TONS of them ... Now I know someone dealt with this before here.... anyone know how to stop it???

As I said this one is a long shot LOL

Thanks
Tammy

If he has a virus, it will attack his address book and send itself to everyone he has listed. Tell him to do a virus scan.

He did do a virus scan and found something and got rid of it... but that didn't help this.... Also, the emails are to ppl that aren't in his address book... and to think about it... i think i am the only person in his book LOL... These are all to emails he's never heard of....

*confused* LOL

Hmm, sounds like a virus or worm, but you also may wanna call your ISP. If your account has been compromised, you will at least need to change your password. AOL cancelled my account without telling me once because someone used my finacee's screen name to send out 900 e-mails in 4 minutes. Who is your ISP?

I had the same problem. All of these emails had the mydoom virus too. Hotmail said to change my password and secret question. I haven't gotten another one. I would like to put every one of these spammers in jail.

I kept having the same problem. The returned emails were addys that I had no idea who they were. Some viruses and worms are programmed to generate random addys and send emails. Mine just stopped, I think my isp nipped it in the butt.
