You know you live in michigan when you got to a snow and ice covered beach in winter... just because you can (and there is nothing else to do on a nice bright sunny Saturday)!!

It is pretty amazing!! This saturday i went out on one of the bays off Lake Huron to go fishing and the ice was 16 Inches thick. Still scary though :D

yeah, those guys said they wanted to get a close up look at the icebergs and ice along the shore line. I thought they were nuts. There is also a very low flying plane in one picture that went back and forth about five times.
It was amazing how many people were out there, just walking along, checking it out, playing on the swings.
I did this last year too and it was fun. It's definetly a beautiful sight!

Wow...snow and sand...what an amazing picture. I live in sunny S. California (well...it's cloudy today)...but I can't even imagine snow on the beaches. Of course, our beaches are on the ocean...but some of your lakes look like oceans to me. (My hubby is from Michigan and I've visited...but never in the winter.)

I am in Traverse City and I can attest to the lovely winters that Michiganders get to endure. You know you are a die-hard when you go to the beach in winter. I walk the dogs down there.

As a former resident of Michigan, Lansing and Rainbow Lake, I can relate! When I was growing up we lived right on a lake and I remember building snowmen and snowmobiling on the lake.
Last time I was at the beach in Holland it was quite a bit warmer!
Guess I won't mention that it has been in the 70s for the past few days down here in Bama :p

Oh I'm glad the beaches up there are just a beautiful memory. I was from Grand Rapids and hubby was 14th St. in Holland. Been down here in NC since 1965, best move ever. Thanks for the pics though.

I lived in Tawas for a while, and Lake Huron is so beautiful in the winter. I remember looking at the lake, and seeing the WAVES frozen like they were still going in the water. It is just so beautiful. I Love Michigan, but DH can't stand the cold weather.
