Ok so I was minding my own business, doin my laundry. I had opened the dryer to take out the clean clothes and smelt smoke. My first thought was "Man, its deff time to get a new dryer." A min later my phone rings. Its my friends husband, they live next door. He says "Just wanted to let you know the field in on fire but dont worry about it." So I go look outside, the whole field between our two houses on blazin, its headed towards my house then veers off to the back and the back field goes up. Then it speads to the fence were all the trees are and they went up. Him, his MIL, her boyfriend and son and his friend are all out there beatin on the fire, sprayin it down with the water hose, gettin buckets of water and its just blazin away. The fire departement shows up and finishes puttin it out for us. They ask how it started and he says "I was burnin the trash pile behind my house and it just went." It had circled his house, jumped his drive and got all of the fields. Talk about frightening. They told him if it ahd been like a bonfire or him just foolin around they could have fined him $500 but since it wasnt they let him go. HELLO!!! He SHOULD have known better than to try to burn on a day when the danged wind is gustin up to like 20 miles an hour!! There was a fire truck and like 8 fire/rescue trucks in my yard!! Geez! What a moron!!

That is why we have to go out is because people dont care and it gets away from them......they dont care if the wind is blowing or not they just do it

Let's just hope that it scared him enough that he won't try that again. I'm glad that it didn't get your house. Maybe you should call and tell him if he is going to do that again maybe he should get someone to help him watch the fire incase it gets out of hand again.

Glad you are safe. In our area if we need to burn anything bigger than in a 55 gal. drum, the fire dept. will come and do the burning for us.

Im glad ya'll agree with me! Him and his wife, my friend, still arent talking. She tried and tried to talk him out of it and he wouldnt listen. Ok, gotta say this, I dont know how hard the wind was blowin but it was hard. There was really tall grass out there and when it was blowin they were bent over nearly in half so I guesstematied how hard it was blowin, BUT it was entirely to hard be burnin.
