BOOK OF SHADOWS BLESSING

This is the blessing I have as the first page in my Book of Shadows – Lady
Selene

Harken as the Witches word
Calls the Lady and the Lord
Moon above and earth below
Skies coal blue and suns hot glow
In this right and ready hour
Fill the pages with thy power
May no unprepared eyes see
The secrets which entrusted be
To I who walk the hidden road
To find the hearthstones calm abode
Guardians of the four directions
Hear me and lend they protection
May these truths of earth and skies
Shielded be from prying eyes
But to the Witches whose maps these be
May the way be plain to see
And through all the coming ages
May we find home in these pages
So mote it be!

Beautiful Goddess of many faces, bless this book that it may enhance all who
choose to read its
pages.
Bless this book as my relationship with you may continue to grow with your love
and your
blessing.
So mote it be!

CANDLE BLESSING

Blessings be upon thee,
O creature of light!
Thrice blessed little herb!
Herb o' grease, with thy waxen stem
and thy blossom of flame!
Thou art more potent against spells and terrors
and the invisible menace than fennel or dittany or rue.
Hail! antidote to the dealy nightshade!
Blossoming in the darkness,
thy virtues are hearts ease and quiet sleep.
Sick people bless thee,
and women in travail,
and people with haunted minds,
and all children.

ALOHA, Serge King -- a full moon blessing

The only Temple of Peace worth building
Is in your heart, Serge
Is in the human heart
In your students hearts

Peace can not be won with money, Serge
Peace can not be bought
Nor can peace be sold
But peace must be earned

In loving, selfless service to us all
Giving, regiving
Just for the Joy of It
THAT is Aloha

Aloha is never prosperity, Serge
Bought with the money
Tinkling in your pocket
Aloha is free

Giving, regiving in poverty
Sings an ancient song
Full of Joy, Bliss and Love
The true coin of Peace

A so is giving, regiving in wealth
A thing of beauty
Filled with ancient glory
Unsurpassable

With blessings and thanks, I give you this gift
May it touch your heart
And open your heart
May it touch all hearts

An Opening Blessing

AN OPENING BLESSING
(From the American Indian Tradition)

A Native American tradition called for blessing a gathering by invoking the powers of the six directions. This morning, we will repeat this brief invocation with the help of the traditional Indian smudge sticks.

(Lights the sticks, extinguishes the flames, and uses the sticks to brush smokein the directions indicated.)

(Below) We call on the power of Mother Earth, the Great Turtle, strong support for all humankind, bring to us patience and the ability to take one step at a time. Powers of the Earth, be with us!

(South) Powers of the South, Sacred Mouse, teacher of Trust and Innocence.Let us find again our innocent eyes, our playful trust in each other and in other humans. Powers of the South, the Mouse, be with us!

(West) Powers of the West, place of Intuition and of the power of woman, Great Bear, bringer of dreams. Teach us the ability to go inside ourselves and discover the truth within. Powers of the West, Great Bear, be with us!

(North) Powers of the North, home of the Great Buffalo, spirit of wisdom and knowledge. Bring us the wisdom to share with each other and to provide for one another. Powers of the North, Buffalo, be with us!

(East) Powers of the East, come, source of light and illumination, Eagle, creature of great heights. Give us the gift of sight, that we may see clearly the path ahead. Powers of the East, Eagle, be with us!

(Above) Powers of the Sky, Great Spirit, come, bring all healing and infinite guidance. Sun that shines bright upon all our days. Powers of Earth, of south, west, north, and east, be with us as the sun in the sky!

(Turns to the audience.) The traditional blessing of power came through the scenting of others with the smoke from smudge sticks like these, composed of sage, cedar or other substances. As I have ceremonially blessed this service, now let each of you do the same to the other.

(Each person uses the smudge stick on one other person.)

BRIGHT BLESSING
May the East fling open your windows,
and fill your rooms with air;
May the South send you strong sunshine,
and give you the strength to dare;
May the West wash rivers into your
heart, and oceans into your soul,
May the North share the secrets and
gifts of the earth,
to heal and make you whole

SELF BLESSING

Ed Fitch. From the early 1960's

This should be performed at the New Moon or at other time of need. It is not to be performed promiscuously.

May be used as a minor dedication or as a minor exorcism to banish any evil influences which may have formed about the person.

Perform this ritual in a quiet place, free from distractions, and nude.

You will need the following:

Salt - about ¼ teaspoon.
Wine - about an ounce.
Water - about ½ oz.
Candle

The result is a feeling of peace and calm. It is desirable that the participant bask in the afterglow so that she may meditate and understand that she has called the attention to the Godhead to herself, asking to grow close to the Godhead in both goals and wisdom.

When you are ready to begin, sprinkle the salt on the floor and stand on it. Light the candle. Let the warmth of the candle be absorbed into your body. Mix the water into the wine, meditating on your reasons for performing the self blessing.

Bless me Mother, for I am your child.

Dip the fingers of your right hand into the mixed water/wine and anoint the eyes.
Blessed be my eyes that I may see your path.

Anoint the nose.

Blessed be my nose, that I may breathe your essence.

Anoint the mouth.

Blessed be my mouth that I may speak of you.

Anoint the breast.

Blessed be my breast that I may be faithful in my work.

Anoint the loins.

Blessed be my loins, which bring forth the life of men and
women as you have brought forth all creation.

Anoint the feet.

Blessed be my feet, that I may walk in your ways.

Remain and meditate for a while.

A Wine Blessing

The grape on the vine has been picked and fermented
And soon the vine will wither and sleep
We have bottled it's sweet juice for the winter ahead
But tonight we shall drink of its warmth
As we drink lets us always remember
The eternal cycle of life, death and rebirth
For soon He will die
And soon She will weep
And this fruit shall have to live til the Spring
Emerges in all her glory and brings with her sweet warmth
Til then we must remember Her and our own earth bodies
With the ability to bring forth new life should we wish
An empowerment by the Goddess
A gift to her children
To show them the beauty of life.
And now, Great Goddess, bless this wine
So your children may taste of your wisdom

BLESSING THE EARTH FOR PLANTING

O gentle Air, we do come before Thee
To ask that your gentle tender breezes kiss
The plants that will come forth.

O fearful Fire, we do come to ask that
Your hot heat be but a gentle warmth
To help the plants grow.

O Water of Life, we do come before Thee
To ask your gentle waters to bring life
To the tender plants that come forth.

O Great Mother, let thy dark womb care
For the tender seeds, to push them up when
The time is right for the plants to come into full bloom.

We do thank Thee Diana. Mother of All Living Things and Giver of Life.

Blessed Be.

(offer wine to Lord & Lady – ground may be consecrated with element before
planting)
