Some one actually had the audacity to brong their kids and left them out in the car! 2 were in car seats so they were little and one was around 6 or 7

I was so appauled at that person for even thinking it was ok to bring their kids to a place like that, I mean they didnt bring them in but Gosh, to even leave them out in the car unattended! It royally pissed me off.

I have kids and I number one would never bring them to a store like that or number 2 would never leave them unattended in a car! OMG!

I had to go to get stuff for a basket but I had the good scence to wait till hubby was home and he watched the kids

I cant believe what some people do I swear.

Thats completely outragous. I would have went into the store and yelled really loud "who the h*ll is the dumb*ss who left their kids out in the car?" then i woulda been like "we better call the cops before that car gets stolen with those kids"
Make those people feel really bad and think about what the h*ll they just did. That makes me sick.

Yet another instance where I just don't understand what the parent is thinking. Leaving a child in the car like that is just wrong, no matter where it is. Even if it were the bank, a grocery store or the post office, it is still wrong. The parent sets their child up to be an easy target for an abductor this way.

I will let my son stay in the car if I get out to pump gas, but even then I make sure that the doors are locked, the car is off, the key is on me and I use my debit card to pay at the pump.
If I need to use the ATM and my son is with me, I go to the one a little further down the road that I can drive up to use.

Maybe it is just me, but any time that I need to go into a business, my son goes with me and I certainly would not carry him to an a "adult" establishment under any circumstance. If it is not okay for my child to go in, then I don't go in. Now don't get me wrong, I am not a prude. I have been to several "adult" stores in my life, but never with my child. For all that parent knows, there could have been a molester sitting outside just waiting for their chance. There is no way that I would make it easier for one to get to my child.

Stupid, stupid people! It is amazing that they can survive. Daily existence is too much for some of them to handle.

I would of picked up the nearest phone and call 911, isnt it a crime now to leave children in a car alone??? Not sure if every state does charge parents??

here in iowa recently their was a woman nabbed for leaving her child in the car while shopping, then just a few weeks ago she got nabbed again because her children were left home alone and one set the house of fire. SHE WOULDN'T EVEN COME TO THE SCENE AS SHE HAD A WARRANT FOR HER AND DIDN'T WANT TO GET ARRESSTED. DIDN'T CARE THAT HER KIDS COULD HAVE DIED!!!!!!!!! People like that don't deserve to have kids!!!!

Not only the risks of someone taking the kids, etc., but isn't it cold in NY? How could someone leave their kids unattended in the winter? It's not better than leaving them in a hot car in the summer.

Ravenlost, I have never heard of a car catching on fire at the pump if it were cut off. I know that it is a fire hazard to pump gas while the engine is running, and I never do that. Most places have it posted not to leave your engine running for that reason. In the cases that you mentioned, did the parents leave the engine running or do you know?

Some people just don't deserve to be parents and then you have some wonderful people who can't have children that would be the best parents. It really doesn't seem to be fair does it. With the way the world is today I wouldn't leave my kids in the car for anything. Those people that feel the need to go to an adult store is more important then their kids safety is stupid. I think that I would've have called the police.

Please, NEVER leave your children in the car while pumping gas or going in to pay for it while the car is parked at the pump. Twice in my life I have seen cars go up in flames at the pump...and both times there were children in the car. Luckily, the parents were able to get their children out safely (although they couldn't remember afterwards how they did it).

I have heard of this happening too. It does happen more when the car is running, but can happen with it not running. I have read it is sparks from static electricity that cause the fires. So you are never supposed to go sit in your car and wait while pumping gas. And if you feel you have to, touch some metal before you go to take the pump out.

That was stupid leaving those kids outside by theirselves-
I went to an "Adult store in Tenn. and there were several people that brought their kids in the store(I was embarrassed for the kids and embarrassed myself with all of those toys around and everything)I just do not know WTH is wrong with people these days

umm..i agree..leaving infants in car seat in a car..BAD idea. but c'mon folks..I as a single mum with no $$ "leave em at daycare" hello? costs money!! and for us who don't have the luxury of daycare..what do you sugest we do? hmm? this annoyed me on several levels. i have gone to the adult store with a freind ..she would run in and get what she wanted,i stayed in the car with my kids. then i, after she came out, i would go in and get what i wanted, while my kids stayed in the car with my freind..but still at the store **at the tiome one was in a car seat and the other was in a booster seat.
ah well, think i shall go with the "nobodies perfect, and somefolks aren't as smart as others..and common sense is anything but common" and leave it at that!
calm down and thank the gods you would not do this to your kids. whats more? be thankful that you have the OPTION to lave the kids with someone you trust so you could go there. some people just do not have that option.

I agree we should all be thankful if we have somone we trust to watch out children, but if you don't have somone you trust to watch your children, and want to go somewhere you would not be comfortable taking them, you put your child's needs and wants before your own, and don't go there. I mean items in an adult store aren't a nessescity, and, and to leave children outside, alone so you can get what you want, is wrong IMO and not fair to your kids.

*LOL* sorry sorry sorry just caught me at a bad time..after spending the entire week with 2 kids bouncing off the wall from snow day and school being cancelled i am half out my mind. i realy do not see the harm in leaving the kids in the car at this type of store as long as , like me , the kids were with an adult in the car. oh well..each to his own. i'm just floored with the 2 being in car seats. tha just scres me. it just ..freaks me a lil. it's enough to give a kid claustrophobia!! not something i would do. anyway, as i said be thankful that you do have an option of someone to watch the kids. i thank the gods mine are both in school..and i get the chance at absolute quiet for a few hrs a day. also the prime time to go shopping at such places, IF i wanted. i just felt a need to protest a bit ..moms get so much bs laid at their feet. kjids don't come with a manual..uncle sam doesn't come up to you " oh..your preggers? well you are gonna need this..here" *hands you a pamphlet on how to be a good parent* just doesn't happen. *sigh* lets all just give the lil ones an extra hug an smooch today especialy in light of that SOB in florida killing that lil girl. **that is hitting me & my mother quite hard **

I have NEVER seen this happen in person....but have seen/read about it. I asked Aggie about it (His m.o. in military was a mechanic basically).

Here's some info. on the subject.

http://www.esdjournal.com/static/refuelfr.htm

The fires are usually started by static electricity...getting in/out of car.

You get out of your car into another environment....you touch the pump and a spark ignites the flames....you try pulling it out which only makes it worse.

I've read you're supposed to keep the pump in your tank and walk away if at all possible. Also it's a good idea (Aggie has always done this and has me do it as well) when opening the door of your car.....touch the outside of the window rim, roof, whatever you can. The spark will be then be discharged somewhere else.

Sorry, I'm not getting into the debate of an adult book store. To each his own.

I think it is just gross to have your children with you when you go to this kind of store period, whether they sit in the car with you or go in. Not a good thing for your kids to see-mom buying sex toys. And if you complain about having no money for food, necessities, etc. and then talk about buying sexual aids, then something is wrong with this picture. I am not being holier-than-thou about sex toys, just don't think your children should be anywhere in the vicinity when they are purchased. If my mom had taken me to sit in the car while she shopped for vibrators would have scarred me for life. I'm just saying.

When a friend I know goes shopping at a certain SuperBigBoxStore she tells her two daughters 8 years old and 3 years old to go "Straight to the toy section and play until I come and get you." She then proceeds to shop for an hour or so until she goes to the toy sections to pick them up. She buys them a little toy sometmes if they have been good and stayed in the toy section while she shopped. Although I don't know how she would know this since there is no adult supervision at all. Just STRANGERS all around.

THIS BLOWS ME AWAY!!!! I think it is EXTREAMLY RISKY. I do not understand how she or anyone could think that that is okay. We all have watched in HORROR as an beautiful 11 year old girl was abducted and forcefully led to her death.

Wow fun&free, are you serious? If so, that is INSANE! What the hell is she thinking and what does her hubby think? My God, yet another way to set your children up to be abducted. If I cannot see my child clearly in a store, then he is too far away from me and I make him come back quickly. What is wrong with people?! Wake up, take care of, and look after your kids!

Not only is this risky (for the child's safety), but if she did this where I live, I am pretty certain, that if child welfare found out they would remove the children from her care for neglect (if it were my SIL I'd turn her in for it myself)...People who act like that don't deserve kids..

You know, its people like that who DON'T get their kids snatched. Its we who are eagle-eyed. Some people should NOT have kids. I hate that. My parents were also foster parents. You wouldn't believe some of the things that have happened to those kids, and they got SENT BACK to their horrible parents!

I would have called 911 from my car! What those people did was criminal.

On that note.... Since none of us would leave our kids in the car, how many leave their pets in the car? THAT is criminal as well. I can't count the times on TWO hands that I've called on people to do that. One cop told me, "Its just a dog." I told him if he didn't want to do his job, he should turn in his badge.

Sorry for the field trip.

Linda I hate when people leave their animals in the car..Myself, I NEVER bring my dogs with me unless, my dogs are allowed to/would be coming with me, whereever we are going (such as a relatives/vet/vacation(where hotels accept pets)/pet supplies stores/groomers etc.)
