I just cannot make myself do anything anymore. My house is a DISASTER- unwashed dishes, unmade beds, a bathroom that is so dirty the hewalth department would shut me down if they saw it. It is all I can do every day to get up, take a shower, and go to work. All I have done all day is lie on the couch and eat. I have already eaten five times the amount of food I need, and I am fixing a frozen pizza right now! Some days I eat until my stomach cannot hold any more food and I throw it up. I have gotten up at least a dozen times to start cleaning, and just lie right back down. My christmas decorations are STILL piled in a chair in the living room. UGH - I hate this! I am so tired of being lonely, broke and alone. My son spends most of his time at his girlsfriends, can't say that I blame him!

Go have a complete physical and be sure that nothing is wrong like your thyroid being out of whack. If that is fine, ask to be referred for a mental health evaluation. It sounds like depression to me and believe me it can very much take over your life completely. If it is depression, meds and therapy will help alot.

Then go find something to do. Anything. Part-time, volunteer, whatever, but find something to do where you have to get out of the house and talk to people. I don't care what it is, even if you can read to third graders during their lunch, but you need some sort of human contact. And you can't get it sitting around the house.

Start exercising. Nothing major, but walking will do. But get moving and get those good happy endorphins out and going. It sounds hokey but exercise does help. You don't have to sweat like a pig, just move. Take one lb tomato cans and lift them. Get a jump rope out and jump but do something.

Finally, don't look at the mess and a gigantic mess. Just try to clean up one corner. If you can do one corner a day, by the end of the week you will have accomplished quite a bit. One corner at a time.

You can start feeling better but it doesn't happen unless you make the effort to change.

Oh im sorry its so hard right now. The good news is that its probably a phase. Once spring gets here you'll prolly be more upbeat!
Same with your son, going to his girlfriends is something "new" and he knows mom will be home as always whenever he needs you!

u just described my mother before she got her meds regulated right. She's got thyroid problems and depression. I would suggest that you see your physician. And yes, I agree that even just a little exercise helps change your attitude. And the corner a day thing. That's what I do! It does work!!

Sounds like depression. Talk to your doctor. Mine gave me Effexor and it has changed my life. But, it takes time to figure out what is best for you. I tried Prozac first and it did nothing. You just have to keep pushing until you find the med that works best for you!!

Everyone has their days where they don't feel like doing anything. It doesn't mean the person is depressed and needs to seek mental help. I'm sorry but every time I read a thread like this at least one person tells the op to seek mental help.

Not everyone who lays around and doesn't feel like doing sh*t needs to seek help. Maybe she's just drained...I don't suffer from any type of illness. There are days I feel just like the OP describe for the exception I don't eat a lot. Granted she "may" be depressed but she doesn't need medication to help her deal with it.

Ok, i'll shut up.

If this has been going on for months or years it's probabably depression. Your local human services department may be able to help. Good Luck!

If this is unusual with your normal way of being - please see a doctor. Nobody here can diagnose you over the internet for pity's sake!! Rule out physical reasons first. Or find out that it is truly caused by something that needs to be corrected by medicine or therapy. None of us are doctors - go to your family physician or to a clinic if things continue.

I think you're caught in a cycle. You feel icky b/c you haven't done anything and you don't do anything b/c you feel too icky. Only you can break that cycle. Get up and clean something and take baby steps at first. Tell yourself you're just going to pick up half of a room, or clean one thing in the bathroom. Most likely when you start moving around you will want to do more and a clean house will make you feel SO much better. Go outside and sit for a while and get some fresh air. (((((turbob)))))

You described me to a tee! Last year I felt just like you are feeling. I didn't want to do anything and when I got the will to do it I would just sit back down. If it wasn't for my husband and son my house would have looked like a tornado hit it. My husband finally got me to go to the doctor. The doctor took blood test on me and found out my thyroid was way out of wack! I was losing weight but I was eating enough for my whole family! I ended up going to see a specialist and they run a bunch more test on me. I ended up having to have my thyroid removed. I had that done in Sept. of this past year and I'm finally starting to feel better. Thyroid problems run in my family like crazy so my doctor knew to look for it. A lot of times thyroid problems are overlooked so if you go to the doctor make sure you tell them to test your thyroid. I hope it's just the winter blues that your going through, but I would go to the doctor to make sure.

I agree! Ask your doctor if you'd be a good candidate for Wellbutrin or something. It should help you feel better. 150 mg x2 a day should get the job done...consult the doc about it.

~PREVENTENTIVE MAINTENENCE~

Just predicting somebody will post suze aint a docter so suze shouldnt give advice blahblahblah...I opt to take these precautions to discourage even the most potentially obnoxious turd 's comment

To avoid those who state the obvious just to annoy.

HERE"S YOUR SIGN: ( A Warning For Whoever The Next Potential Poster who might be on here who would say, " YOU CANNOT DIGANOSE OVER THE INTERNET....Well No Sh*t Sherlock...This revised hook on phonics version of what I just said above is translated JUST FOR YOU )

Directed at noone as I am posting this BEFORE anyone irritates me. Smart huh?

I am not a doctor, and I am only suggesting you consult your doctor about what I am guessing in case it is wrong. Have him test you and see. I highly recommend Wellbutrin for depression, so if you end up being diagnosed with it, ask the doc IF you'd be a good candidate for Wellbutrin.

After all, it isn't like you could get anything without seeing a doctor anyway.....so saying you cannot get diagnosed over the net....welll duhhhhh......LOL

ughhh at the precautions one has to take on here and be so word perfect because of those who LIVE to fault-find!

Coming from another person dealing with thyroid issues. I can SO relate! I also had gotten diagnosed with depression, in reality it all stems from thyroid issues. Make sure to ask for a T panel test (it's more thorough). Good luck!
