I have taken the test today!!! I did it, I finished every question, I will not know how well I did though for awhile, but I have my acceptance interview on the 18th of this coming month at 11 a.m.
I now need help finding Grants. I know I will not get all of it paid for by the government programs. So if you guys could help me out with searching for LPN Grants or any other you think I may qualify for I would appreciate it so much!!!
TIA

Have you applied for a Pell Grant? Mine was usually enough to pay my tuition and cover my books. You don't have to pay them back as long as you maintain a 2.5 GPA. You can also apply for student loans.

Go to the financial aid office of the school you applied to, they will have all the paperwork you need to fill out. As far as qualifying, it's income based. When I went to school we were probably making 25,000-30,000 a year with 2 kids and my mom to support and I got $1600.00 a year in grant money. I also qualilified for a Stafford student loan. You start repaying student loans 6 months after you are no longer attending school.
This link will tell you more about Pell Grants
http://www.ed.gov/prog_info/SFA/StudentGuide/2002-3/pell.html
And info on Stafford loans is here

I just filled out my renewal for my pell, and got the information that my estimated contribution is 0. It took 2 days. They send the info to the school. so make sure you are enrolled, etc.

Keep talking about how easy it is and I just might get up the courage to do it myself. ezmoney163 how heinous was the test. I am assuming you are talking about the ACT or SAT. I think this would have to be the first step, right? See you just thought you were lost...lol lead me. :D :D

www.fastweb.com
this place is great for finding scholarships, loans, grants etc...
It is free to use! I have been using it to find scholarships for my DD that will go to college this fall, So far there have been 39 of them she is qualified for, she has applied for them all, so now we just have to wait and see if she gets any of them!
GOOD LUCK!

I know this wasn't directed at me, but I just took my ACT again in November. I didn't study, just went and took it. The math SUCKED. A whole lot of Geometry. I just squeeked a 19 out of it. The rest was a piece of cake though. I ended up getting 3 points higher than I did when I took it in high school.
You should do it. :)

See the math is what would trip me up as well. I can do basic math and percentages in my head very well. I even did well in getting the correct answer in algebra and geometry as long as I don't have to show my work. For some reason I could not seem to grasp how to do all of the formulas and therums.  The fear comes from being out of school since '87. I have self taught, poor typing skills and no computer training. I never touched one until 3 years ago, and I have been here pretty much every since. LOL
Is ther a website that tells a person about where and when the tests are givin in their area? Do you now if they give them at Gordon Cooper? See now the curiosity is riseing. ;) ;) ;) :D
They do them at Juco. I just took a residual. It was $25 cheaper, but my scores are only good for Seminole State. Which is okay since I'm doing their nursing program. When I was checking into the act, I think I just did a google search for ACT oklahoma.
I do believe you can get a grant to help cover costs for most of the day classes at Gordon Cooper, as long as they are longer than the 3 month courses.

Also,go to your college that you will be attending, most have a Womens center, they will help you with books and such.
Also check the bulletin board (normally located near the registration area) they have grants and scholarships posted, some are as easy as 1,2,3 some are based on your major alone, worth checking into :)I paid for most of my nursing school via scholarships and of course Pell grants. I didn't take out one student loan :) Also ask your nursing director, he/she should know of a few places to help you out.
G'luck sweety!!

The test was called the NET. It is nursing entrance exam. I am taking the course IF I get accepted at our Tech school. I will be in it for approximately 11 months. Does all this apply to me as well since it is not college?? PLMK TIA
