Tattoos??

What's your opinions on tattoos? Who has 'em and what do you have? If you have 'em, do you regret 'em? I will 'fess up. I have 6. A teddy bear holding a purple heart on my right breast, a teddy bear sticking its tongue out on the right side of my belly, Duchess (from Walt Disney's Aristo-Cats) with a butterfly on her tail on my right inner thigh, a purple rose with double hearts on my right ankle, on my right shoulder blade a cross with 2 bluebirds and a banner that says "Mom" and "Dad", and last but definately NOT least....taking up 2/3 of my lower back is rose vines with purple roses, a cat face and a butterfly. Is it just me or are tattoos addictive? BTW...I am TERRIFIED of needles!!!

I have 4. Only regret one. I have a faery with green and purple wings sitting on a quarter moon surrounded by stars( lower left abdomen), a stylized black rose with the screen name of a ghost from the past in old english script under it(right breast and the one I regret, I'll either have something added to it to cover the name or have it covered completely), a faerie sitting with her arms wrapped around her knees she's mostly blackwork with a touches of purple and she has blue highlights in her hair (right ankle, this is my favorite of the 4), a armband of thorns over a sacred heart, except instead of a cross in the flames mine has an ankh(upper left arm). I agree that they are addictive, I also don't think its as painful as most people think. My parents hate mine, but they've learned to deal with them....now the eyebrow ring was a different story...

DD will be 18 in June.....she's already asked for a tattoo for her birthday. She has a friend who's designing it for her.

I don't have any but I want one or two. I just can't figure out where to put them. I want them to be seen, but able to be covered up. Does that make sense? Like I thought about my ankle, but if I had to go to an interview in nice dress, it would show and I don't want that. So once I figure out what and where I want it, I will get one.

They definitely are addictive. I have a butterfly (yawn) on my right breast. On my back, close to the shoulder, is something similar to the Beast in Beauty & the Beast. Kind of half lion, half man. My friend was an artist & I saw a picture of it in one of his books of paintings he had done, so I asked him to put it on my back. He's dead now, so it's kind of special. The only regret I have, is not having something a little more original than the butterfly. My friend was going to redo it, but never got the chance. The butterfly was done by a professional tattoo artist, but the beast is by far the best. I would never put one where it couldn't be covered. My dad still doesn't know I have any & I've had the first one for about 15 years. My girlfriend just went through her last treatment to get rid of hers, but they were all what I call jail house tattoos. She just let friends do them when she was younger & now her fiancee wants them gone, so he took her for treatments. She said that hurt worse than the tattoos, but they were all in places she couldn't hide. (ankle, finger, hand). I'd love to have more, but DH put my name on his arm & said that should be enough for us. (guess I'll give him that...lol)

I gotta confess as well.....lol I have a rose with vines on my left ankle, I have a heart with vines on my right ankle that goes all the way around like an ankle bracelet, I have the state of Texas with a yellow rose going through it on my left shoulder blade, I have a stern on my left calf, I have my name in cursive on my right forearm, and last but not least, I have 2 hearts with banners (one blue and one purple) with my kids names in them..........As far as regretting them, I regret them all but the one with my kids names......I wouldn't change that one for the world......I also have my naval pierced as well, and 9 holes in each ear.......lol

I confess, I have two and I love them. My first was a really cool sun on my upper middle back--it's all black. My husband has it as well, on his right shoulderblade. My other is a turtle (fave animal) on my left ankle. It is also black and is original artwork (ie no one else in the world has it). My mom didn't care about the tattoos, it was the tongue ring that pissed her off! lol

Oh, and btw, neither of them hurt. It was nothing. AND I don't regret either. You only live once!

I have 5 (well technically 6) one I got for a STUPID reason by a STUPID person and I had it covered up last summer (hence the 5/6 tattoo's)

I love them! and I have just picked out my most recent one that I will be getting next week.

Tattooing is ILLEGAL here, can oyu believe that? Just this last year some shops have been popping up because they have found a loophole in the law, but there is a shop about a block from my house that does killer work, and I have gotten 2 there in the last year and I plan to go back. I'd probably be covered by now if it were legal to get one LOL :)

2. mongol birl on my shoulder
3. skull on my other arm that has since been covered with a beautiful blue rose with some tribal under it
4. moon on my shoulder - it is actually half a tat, my best friend has the other half (sun) on her shoulder
5. I have my husbands name with "my love is eternal" writtin in kanji on my ankle.

My new one is going to be a butterfly with a tribal band on my leg.. took me a year to pick that out! LOL :D

I don't have any and don't want any. Hubby has initials on his are that were scribbled there by his cousins when he was real young. It looks so horrible because one letter looks like it is melting off and the other looks like its falling of or sliding down his arm. lol

I got my first one when I was 24 and am now 37 and regret none of them. I have:

1. A rose with a bud on a stem on my left outer thigh.
2. A butterfly on a blade of grass on my left shoulder. My sister has the matching one on her shoulder.
3. Thorns with roses around my left ankle.
4. A mini solar system around my right ankle. It originally was just a moon but I had my artist jazz it up some. He drew some stars and planets, a rocket ship, a space ship and a kick a$$ sun.

#'s 3 & 4 I had reworked last year and I am itching bad to get another one .. lol .. they are very addicting! I don't know what I am addicted to. The thrill of getting a new tat, the buzz of the tat gun, the pain (which I don't think is really all that bad), or the smell of A&D ointment .. lol!

Why doesn't he get it covered? It is easy to do and I am sure he'd be pleased with the outcome.

I've got 1 that my brother did for me last May. Its on my left ankle and its of a fairy with butterflys and hearts around her. I need to get it colored in, but I'm going to go to a professional, his darned needle hurt too much..felt like he was pushing it to the bone.

I do want to get another on, on my right ankle with my kids names and hubbys, just not sure what. I thought about for the kids, footprints with their names and birthdates.(also, that would be a way to id me if anything we to ever happen to me.) I dont know. before the year is over I'll have 1 more though..lol

I have 2 right now..I also want tattoos where I can cover them.Everyone sees mine in the summer though!
The 1st one is a very small(the size of a half dollar)multi-colored butterfly on my shoulder blade.I was chicken and wanted something small in case it hurt too bad.
It didn't hurt so I got a multi-colored butterfly on my lower back.It is about 7"X8" and i'll be adding tribal to that later.I'm going tomorrow and getting Toucan Sam on my upper breast.Also have my tongue pierced.Tattoos are very addictive!

You all just had to start this on tattoos!! LOL Well I have 9 of them bad boys. I am just a little disappointed right now because I wanted the one on my lower back covered so it would be along the entire portion of my lower back but due to being preggo, I am not able to start this just yet. But anyways here is my list of what I have:

1. Heart, rose, dagger on my right ankle
2. Ghost by my left ankle bone
3. Lizard on my inner left thigh
4. Celtic knotwork piece around my belly button
5. A sailor bear on my lower left abdomin
6. Sun, moon, and stars on my lower right abdomin
7. A panter on my right shoulder blade
8. My nickname in old english on my lower right back
9. A tribe dude (reminds me of the Unga Bunga dude from Bugs Bunny) but I am not going to reveal where he is. Just a little too personal (and he is not on my butt or breast).

I really want more tats. They say there is a fine line between pleasure and pain....I think I have found that with getting tats and getting things pierced!!

dh and I both have 2 each. I have one on my lower back, butterfly with trible markings around it, second one is a dragonfly on my calf. Dh has barbwire around his upper arm {sorry cant think right now} and silvester the cat on his other arm.

Both of us wanted them so we can show them off if we wanted or cover them up. I admit the one on my calf is kinda big and hard to cover up especilly in the summer lol but I do not regret them at all.

We are both planning on getting more, I am always on the prowl for ideas for my next one lol I cant wait and yes they are addicting. I am thinking of getting my tongue pierced, kinda afrad of the pain though LOL does it hurt bad???

I have 3. One is on my left leg it has a nickname they usto call me in highschool (Baby Loka). I have another on my left hand middle finger it has my name on it, and my other one is on my chest it has my fiance name on it. Do i regret any, no i can just cover them up later with something else. lol :D . I had the one on my leg done with the gun, and the other two with a needle.

I have one, wellll, technically two, on my upper left arm. Several years ago I got a cute little angel, kicked back, wearing sunglasses while she sits on a cloud. Under that I had my BF at the time's name put on. (rookie mistake, lol)A few years ago, I decided I wanted to cover the name and update the angel to be more representative of my own outlook. I had the cloud extended down and they filled it in with oranges and yellows, it looks like flames and hot coals instead of a cloud-more like a fallen angel lol. This covered the name. Then I had a winged tribal heart put beneath it all.
I was seriously contemplating another when I found out I was pregnant. So, my next one is on hold until my body is mine again :) But they are definitely addictive. I want lots more~!

I have (about half dollar size) a hummingbird on my right ankle. Pretty colors, blue, green, orange, red and yellow. I want to get a toe ring tattooed on but I am too chicken. The first one did not hurt while I was gettting it, but the healing part about killed me. It itched so bad I wanted to cry!

I am the only one in my family without one. Not for lack of wanting though. I have piercings, but haven't got inked. My uncle is a professional and did an excellent humingbird/rose/tribal on my mom's leg. He was drawing up a toe ring one for me that is supposed to go around my big toe to the inside of my foot, then back over the arch.

I gotta wait on that one, but when we go to vegas, my husband and I both said we are gonna get one while we are there. You know..part of the things to do while in vegas thing :D

My best friend has her nipples done. She says it definitely hurt, but not unbearable. I've had my navel done twice, eyebrow once, none of them were that bad.

I got my tongue pierced and, no, it didn't hurt. The piercing itself was over in a flash. I had it done at 18 (I'm 23 now). The worst part was the healing. My tongue swelled up so I had a "wonderful" (lol) lisp and you really have to "relearn" how to eat. I ate a lot of pudding, ice cream, jello and mac n cheese for about a week!

I have 3, a unicorn on my left ankle (that will be added to soon), left thigh I have a heart with flames around it, and on my right ankle I have a braclet, it is roses and a scroll, there are 3 roses one for each kid and their initial beside each color and one extra rose because that was all I had for about 9 years was a single rose, I just added the braclet in Sept. I might get another but not sure. My hubby has 9.

I know exactly what you mean. I felt the same way. I have mine on my hip. During the winter, I can just push down the waist of my pants if I want to show it without showing anything else. In the summer, if I wear a high cut leg bathing suit, it will show. My other criteria (which is kind of silly) was that I wanted it in a place that I could see it too!!! I didn't want to look in a mirror to see it!

My only one is a heart with wings. The arrow is actually a music note! It was customed made - so I KNOW I will NOT have any regrets about it when I am 100yrs old!

I want another one, but I am still tossing around ideas. I do know it will have my daughters name. :D I guess I need to decide soon, because I said I wanted to get one with my tax returns - & while it is still winter so I don't have to worry about sun exposure! :rolleyes:

The one thing I know for sure - from everyone elses experiences, is the only names to be inked are your children, parents, or very close loved ones who are now deceased. No names of significant others!! :eek:

Tats are like child birth - painful at the time, but once you see the beauty, you forget the pain. :D

I have 4. I have vines, and small roses on my lower left stomach, with my dh's name. I have 2 long stemmed roses with my kids names on my upper right thigh. I have tribal vines and 1 rose across my lower back (that one hurt so bad, I about passed out, as much as I would like to add on to it, I don't think I could handle the pain,lol). I also have an ancient Roman symbol of love, a little lower. I'm going to get a Christian symbol(not a cross, but something unique) of some sort on my ankle, or maybe on top of my foot sometime this Spring. The only painful one was my back,esp. on my sides, the rest were a breeze.:)

I wanted one with my 3 kids names on it but the guy I talked to said I would have to get a a really big one cause the letters have to be so big. Now Tori and Tyler wouldnt be to bad but Tristian would have to be really big I guess, at least this is what I was told.

How big is the lettering on you guys that have them?

I have 9 tats and 3 piercings. I only dislike one or 2 of my tattoos really. And that's just because I didn't really plan them out very well. I have a lady bug on my right shoulder, and she is a red & black blob now... She should have been done a little bit bigger..and the other one i should have thought out better is my fairy and mushroom on my lower right side of my abdomen,they were 2 separate tats and the fairy was just black work with a tad of purple...they both are faded out pretty bad.. all the others I just love!
And the piercings...love those too! To me both tattoos and body piercings are addictive.

My dh's name is big, but it kinda flows into the tat,and becomes part of it, the letters are maybe an inch big. My kids names are much smaller(maybe a half an inch), and in real pretty script. The girl who did that one put their names into her computer, and printed them out, so they are small, and very elegant looking.

See that is kinda what I wanted was something small but we were told that the ink spreads over time, and if the letters are to small they just turn into a blob for better words lol. I am thinking I may just get what I want now and then worry about later :D

The name on mine is fairly small I've had it 5 years. Unfortunately, it hasn't spread.I did what I wanted on the computer, the artist copied it and it's the exact size I wanted. My best friend has her name done in her signature on her shoulder, it's also small, she's had it for over 10 years and it hasn't spread either.

ttistin, I'd check with a different artist, it may be that the guy you talked to doesn't like or isn't comfortable doing small stuff.

Mine hasn't spread either, Dh's name is thicker(the lines are), and my kids are veru thin, neither has spread, just as nice as the day I had them done. I too, would go to another artist.

my kids names are the same width as my finger(maybe a half inch high). it was done with a needle and thread. not a gun. i want to go over them when tax money comes and make them pretty. ive had mine for 6yrs today. my husband has had his for about 16 yrs. i hope that when taxes come, not only can i do something to fix mine, but i wnat to get another, something that means something between joe and i.

IT'S ILLEGAL HERE TO DO TATTOOS BUT I HAVE ONE ON MY ANKLE OF A HEART AND SOME VERY PRETTY FLOWERS. I HAD IT DONE ABOUT 5 YEARS AGO AND I'M BORED WITH IT.
