After 3 days of not having any power due to the ice storm, the electric company finally got our power back on. It has been
FREEZING here with no heat. I think we were some of the last few
that got power. It had been over 200,000 without power since Monday.
This morning it was down to 30,000 and finally this afternoon we
got heat, yeahhhhhhhhh
Oh, yeah, this also means that we can finally take a shower, lol.
i'm sure we are pretty rank by now, lol

That happen to us a couple of years ago here in Arkansas. We went half a month with no power. It was horrible. I feel for ya. Glad they got it back on. How did you cook for the past 3 days? We used our charcoal grill.

Glad you got it back on. It is just plain old misery without it. I put together me an emergency kit for when ours go out thank God it has not been out for over a day here lately, a few years back we lost power for 7 days. In my kit I put in candles, matches, batteries, those small push on lights that run on batteries, lighter, hand wipes, a small flashlight, sterno (you can find this along with a little thing to hold it in the camping or hunting department) this is great for heating water for coffee or warming up soups or frying an egg, etc. a couple of jugs of water, here we have a well so we have no running water when the electricity goes off. The really good thing is that when the lights go off in the dark I know where all my supplies are and don't have to look for it in the dark (I'm a big old chicken without a light). Also I keep all my batteries in this container which means I always know where they are. Also if you have kids, crayons, coloring books, cards, drawing supplies, a few handheld games. My power goes off on the average at least 6 times a year here mostly for 6 hrs or so, so I find it convenient to be prepared.
