What exactly consists of perfect attendance? Both boys have not missed 1 DAY since they started school. We went past the school on Saturday and on the school sign we saw " Field Trip to Peter Piper Pizza for Perfect Attendance Friday Jan 30 " Both boys have gotten ribbons stating perfect attendance. I talked to the school about permission slips and they said For the WHOLE semester. I said they haven't missed 1 DAY. They were also supposed to get WHATABURGER coupons but NEVER got those either. I am now waiting on a call from the Board of Ed to find out what is going on.

Any other suggestions???

could be just a mixup in the office. I would call the attendance office. They would have better records than the board of education (for your particular school). It could be a really simple thing - a sub turned in the attendance sheets wrong one day, there was a mixup in students name, an office aide turned in the next student's name instead of your son's. Just go up to the school and ask, nonconfrontationally. I doubt they meant to exclude your kids :) Lots of paperwork, that all, lol.

Is it possible the children had an early appt sometime and were brought to school after 10 am? My dd;s school counts an absence if the child is brought after 10am or removed from school before 11am. Just a possibility to check in to! HTH and good luck!

No early appointments or anything. I talked to the school hq and they said that notes MAY be going home today. If there is nothing in their backpacks I am calling and talking to the principal. Keep your fingers crossed. The boys would love going since it is just like CEC.

Last marking period, my children received certificates for perfect attendance. Which shocked me, cuz they needed to get tardy slips a cpl times. So I know tardies in my district don't count against attendence. Hope your boys get to enjoy the field trip!

No permission slips today. Going to the school tomorrow to talk to the principal. I told the boys that if they don't go with school on Friday I will bring them Saturday or Sunday since we have an Entertainment book my mother just sent us.

That's the way it was in my school. If you weren't in before they took attendance, you were counted absent. They changed it in the office so they knew you were actually IN the school, but you were still counted absent.

The only times they would have been late is when the WHOLE BUS is late. They shouldn't punish kids because the bus driver is an idiot who can't drive to begin with.

My daughter was late the first couple of days of HS due to the bus being late and she was punihed for it-here it depends on the teacher.
Well good luck to you and keep us posted.

HMM..They never did that in my school, There have been times that my kids had early morning Dr. appt.s that cuased them to miss 1-2 hours of school, and they were not marked as absent..here, as long a child goes to school, no matter how long there are there that day, they are not counted as absent...

Ours were excused if we had a note. It was just a way to keep kids from wandering off before school starts and then coming in later just to be counted as present.

last year my son was marked TARDY 9 times on his report card.

mind you i dont drive him to school he takes the bus...
and if i do drive i am there before the busses arive...

(ok im annally retentive lol...)

i explained this to his teacher.. and by the next report card all of the tardys were gone. 0....

i am sure it is just a glitch.. or a slip of the pen....

GL! and your children should be proud of a perfect attendance..
my oldest didnt miss a day of school until 2 weeks ago... he was vomiting... he was so upset that he was missing school.. hes only in second grade but i am so proud of him for being mature... lol...

It may have been they did not answer or the teacher did not hear them when roll was called and they were marked absent. When the teacher realized the mistake she forgot to change it.

Matthew says that his teacher might give him the permission slip today if he is going to get to go. Michael is too shy to ask his teacher so we will see what Matthew brings home then I am calling the principal after school.

lol u know how many perfect attendances we had at our school? I nearly died. There was an attendance for those who missed not 1 second of school.
Then, there was an attendance for those who missed like less than a day of school. (2 hours or so)
I think there was another'n too.

Made me LOL.

I missed perfect attendance in HS senior year by 1 day. The day I went to see my uncle donald be buried. They used to not count funerals against you, but in 1997-1998 school year they did :(
