I have kind of a personl (not THAT personal!) question...

How does a person know they are depressed? For about the last year I have been VERY blasé about my everything in my life. Its KIND OF (not completely) like I really don't care about a lot of things that I probably normally should. I have a wonderful marriage, my husband is just as adoring as he was 11 years ago, my girls are great and I don't want for anything.

One of my good friends told me I am probably depressed, but my conception of "depressed" I think is different than what I feel. I keep thinking that I am just bored, but even when I find things to fill my day, I feel the same emotionally.

Maybe I am just bored... anyone have a school paper for me to type??? LOL
:D

There are various degrees of depression from just feeling blah to the point where you become non-functional. If you think that there is something wrong there probably is. Make an appointment with your family doctor for a complete physical including a thyroid test. It may just be something chemcial that is out of balance.

It sounds like you could be depressed if you've been feeling this way for a long time. There are different kinds of depression. One kind is situational and the other is a chemical imbalance.

It also can depend on your age. When I was about 45 years old...I became perimenopausal. (It can start much earlier). I felt the same way...just didn't have the joy in my life that I felt I should have based on my abundant blessings.

My doctor prescribed an antidepressant which I took for a couple of years, then stopped.
