It went really good. We had to drive 1 1/2 hrs to get him
Sat evening. All day Saturday, I kept hearing my 6yr old
ask, is it time to get Austin. He was really excited.
We went and picked him up and the kids got along great. I
let my oldest stay the night at my Moms house last night.
And that way Michael and Austin got to share the room.
But Austin wanted to sleep with Michael so we let him.
Michael and Austin stayed up late and played alot together.
They really enjoyed playing together. Dh was really happy
too. Austin called him "dad".
He was really sweet and I enjoyed having him here. He talks
alot though, lol. He did not want to go back to his grand-
parents house though. He wanted to stay. From what his
grandparents say though, Austin does not get that much
attention from his Mom or her new boyfriend. The child
support money we send each week, she does not spend on him.
I know though that it is also used to pay rent etc. But
he is not even living with his Mom. But if we were to try
and stop the child support, i think that she would change
her mind about us getting him.
We went today to dh's grandmothers house and had a cookout.
Dh's dad was there along with his 2 sisters and their kids.
So we had a good time. I hope that he will be allowed to
come back and they don't change their mind. I heard though
that when his Mom is around he totally shows his butt and
she does not try to correct him. Just ignores him. I hope
we can keep getting him on the weekends and hopefully full
custody. Oh yeah, Austin gets carsick and they did not bother
to tell us. We had to pull over halfway home so he could
walk around and would not get sick.

I am so glad to hear it went well. Seems like it went alot better than you expected. I hope it continues to go well for you all in the future! Maybe this weekend was just what Austin needed... alot of love and attention ;)

I am so glad things went well for you. I hope it becomes permanent(him living with you). Sounds like the kids mom is an A$$!

P.S. Dramamine is a wonderful thing! LOL! I have a DD that has always gotten car sick on longer trips (found out the hard way when she was 1) and they make Dramamine for kids, so try it next time, it works wonders! He might need only half a dose since the trip is just hour and half.
