No job, just jail for careless Whataburger robber

A robbery suspect who filled out a job application got an unexpected call-back today.
Houston police said they tracked the suspect to his home after he inadvertently dropped the application after robbing the Whataburger restaurant on the 4600 block of Old Spanish Trail.
Authorities said the suspect came into the restaurant around 8:20 p.m., but when he saw a couple of officers there, he walked back out. When the officers left, he returned and held up the place, police said. About five employees and three customers were in the restaurant. As he was leaving, somebody saw the application fall out of his back pocket.
"The application contained the name of suspect and his address," HPD spokesman Alvin Wright said. "Officers checked the location and found him there."
Police found a revolver and a roll of money on the suspect. They have not yet released his name, and charges are pending.
