Trying to quit smoking!

I'd like to start the New Year off smoke free. I quit a couple of weeks ago using the patches a friend gave me. I only had 5 and that just wasn't enough. Needless to say, I'm back smoking again. I was so proud of myself, as were my friends and family. Now I feel like a complete failure. I hate this habit. As does my hubby. Why do those patches have to be SO expensive? Anyone now where you can get them cheap?

Compare the price of the patches to the price of cigarettes, and you'll see they are not that expensive.... IMHO...

Check your local hospital for smoking cessation classes. The hospital nears me gives you free of charge 6 weeks worth of the patches at the end of their class. (one hour a week for 5 weeks)

Good luck! The patch didn't work for me but the Nicorette gum did. It's been six months and it's still a bit tough but well worth it. :)

I quit for 2.5 years after smoking for 13 yrs. It was amazing how much better I felt...no bronchitis, (like I have right now and lose my breath walking 10 feet to the kitchen!). But I got stupid one night out with friends about 2 years ago. Boy do I regret it. I'm gonna quit again too. Just think of the money we will save!

I have been smoking for 28 years. Quit once for 4 of them. Ran into some stressful times and reached for the pack. Stupid. Then there was the time I quit for 8 weeks. But my boss was being such a jerk, I started again. Needless to say, I no longer work for him. People can be so cruel. Get thier kicks out of making others miserable. And why? Just hope he's happy for almost destroying my life...

Ok everyone, Im bumping this back up because Susan needs some help! She seems to have been "locked" out of BBS but not by the mods, they cant find anything of the sort wrong. She has tried everything from deleting cookies to using backdoors. Nothing seems to work. It would be so sad to use such a great member so what im hoping for is someone who has had this happen to them and found out how to fix it. Help would be greatly appreciated!! I have her e-mail so i can contact her!

Right now there is someone selling the patch on the FSOT board. I'm trying to quit smoking too. I signed up for a cessation plan through my employer and my quit date is 1/15 (tomorrow). I'm going to use the nicotine gum. I tried unsuccessfully to quit last year with the patch. It itched and I couldn't get a good night's sleep for anything so I only lasted a few days with it.
