It is about one of dh's sisters. It is one of the younger ones. {he has one older sis and 3 younger sisters} Well here is the story, lol

She was doing nursing and when she lifted up someone she hurt her back. Well she has gone to dr's, rehab and ciropractor{sp} After a few months of being out of work cause of being hurt the ciro finds that her pelvic bone wasnt in place, she put it back in and sil said it felt so much better. Well the thing I dont get about that is that she was saying it was hurting her in about the middle of the back, now it is the lower? Ok anyway she is getting checks every two weeks cause she still tells the dr she is in to much pain to work. She gets about $700 every 2 weeks. She goes tanning, runs to the mall just about every day. Went out with her dbf throught the woods one day. I mean she is doing a lot of things that you normally wouldnt do if your back was in a lot of pain right?

Well it was said that she doesnt want to go back to work, she just wants to keep getting those checks and sleep half the day and run the roads and get free money. She moved back home after she hurt her back, she doesnt do a thing around there. Nothing!

She says she dosent want to go back to nursing, she wants an office job. She just started the medical transcripting from home school stuff, she pays monthly for it. She has to do that for about a year then she can get a job doing it. She is not looking for a diffrent job. She only wants to work certian hours on certian days and wants no less then $11.00 an hour to start.

Now my question is do I say something to her about finding a job for now till she gets done with her home school stuff? Her parents yell at her to get a job but you know how that is when your parents yell at ya LOL in one ear out the other:D She needs to get out and go to work, she isnt going to be able to live home all her life. Now do I say something or stay out of it? She really is a good kid {ok well she is 20} and when she was nursing I was really proud of her, now it seems like she has turned lazy and doesnt want to do anything. :(

Yea this is what her parents say, what I am worried about is if they find out she really isnt hurt and just saying it hurts a lot worse then it does just to get the money. Cant she get into trouble? and even if that doesnt happen and they finally do stop the money what is she going to do?

I have the feeling she is going to try to milk this while she is doing the home school thing finished, if she finishes it:( I really dont wanna see her get into trouble or get her car repoed or anything like that.

considering she is getting 1400 dollars a month, it looks to me like she could live on her own now. Why would she work as long as the money is rolling in.

Also, it will be very hard to prove. I've seen several cases like this and nothing was ever done.

This is true I have seen on t.v. where you can turn her in, and they can launch an investigation and if they catch her on film moving in a way or lifting things she has stated she could not do, then BAM trouble big time. Party is over! You could get the pics yourself, and then she is done for.

That is what I am afraid off:(

She is living at home again because she didnt want her bf paying for everything, Now her father wants to get a diffrent job which means a diffrent place to live which means she will have to move out on her own again. She doesnt like that cause now she only pays for her car and car insurance, the rest is play money:rolleyes:

All I can say is if she wants Medical transcribing at $11.00...she better type dam fast!! and We DO NOT GET PAID BY THE HOUR....its per line. On average, I type 55-60 WPM and on a GOOD DAY...I make the equivilant of $13/hour after being in the business for 3 years. The doctors know if they paid by the hour, that we transcriptionists would be milking them. and a YEAR PROGRAM???? She is getting scammed. I did a whole medical/dental office program in 8 1/2 months: Insurance, office procedures, billing, and transcribing, anatomy and a few other things. Pleeeeeeeeeze...hit her with a reality stick good n hard.

Stay out of it, you are only going to p**s people off by involving yourself. You are not her parent, she is not living under your roof, so it's not your place to say anything.

Well... piss ppl off or not... but considering it's OUR insurance premiums and lack of workers compensation funds that PAY for ppl like this you better damn well bet that I would tell SOMEONE. Or at the very least I would be speaking to her parents and telling them 'she's not gonna get another job unless YOU throw her out'. I'm sorry, but the price I pay for insurance is high enough and if even one of these ppl getting caught can keep it from going up even more, I assure you I would rat her out. I also know alot of ppl who are seemingly healthy to 'me and you' that get everything they can out of workers comp while others who REALLY need the help are left high and dry. So yeah, I wouldn't care who it pissed off, it's MY pocket book (and potential future health) that is affected by these ppl and I WOULD say something.

In case it isn't obvious, we have a 'friend' who milked workers comp for everything he could get. Everybody KNOWS he's a liar, cause he didn't even have a problem until a week after being demoted from his very 'cush' supervisor position. As soon as he had to actually work he suddenly came down w/ carpal tunnel. Not long after receiving his high dollar workmans comp settlement the plant he worked at shut down. They gave all the employees 18 month termination pay AND benefits (including this friend). Of course, since this happened, he dropped his workmans comp claim and he's back to being on his computer 12 - 18 hours a day doin nothin but play games. I *do* have carpal tunnel and I can only deal w/ a couple hours at a time before I *have* to take a break and I'm only in the beginning stages... mine isn't even near as bad as he claims his is! Not only that, but now he's in training to be a police officer... you know, where he'll have to type numerous amounts of reports on a daily basis. And during their training to learn to use fire arms, which he *never* complains about apparently... So yes, I am not the kind of person who would sit around and say nothing, I've seen ppl take advantage of the system and it's because of them that WE pay more!

If the parents got something to say about it, let them. It's not your place. You'll just make another sister mad at you. This young one and the cookie eating sis. IMO, I wouldn't wanna p*ss off more IL's than I hafta.

well the thing is with all the girls is that if they even hint at throwing a fit they will back down and let them have or do anything they want. They let her move back home after letting her know she would help out around the house, pay at least something to them for rent and more importantly WORK. She does none of this now.

Dh and I both told the IL's that she isnt going to change till they make her. Either kick her out or give her X amount of time to get diffrent job. When she first moved home she was always getting papers and looking for one, even went to a couple interviews. Something was always wrong with it though, to far, not enough pay, wants her to work more hours then she wants. She only wants to work from maybe 8-4. She wants to be home before 5 so her and her bf can go out. She wont work weekends, to many things to do:rolleyes:

I know she is young and she doesnt have any kids, but her and her bf are planing on buying some land and a house in a year. I dont understand how she is going to do this if she doesnt get off her butt.

She is one of the clumsiest people I know. The other day she was running thourgh the house to get the phone and fell, said she hurt her back again. You would think she would be more careful.

She will not go back to the hospital to work, she keeps telling the dr's she is in too much pain so they will keep her out. She wont even go in and do light duty for a while. She hasnt told the hospital she isint coming back cause they will stop paying her. She was suppose to be wearing a brace at the time she got hurt, she wasnt.

My mom got hurt doing the same thing over the summer, she is in her 50's. Hurt her back real bad, couldnt get out of bed. She was back to work within a week on light duty, she was still hurting but went back. I dont see why the dr's are still saying sil cant go back to work.

Stay out of it. If she's going to be found out, she will be found out and at some point the WC people will want an independent review of her condition. They aren't going to pay out forever.

This is a choice she has made and it may just blow up in her face.

I guess I will not say anything to her. I see your guys view on this and am going to stick with it.

I dont want to see her get into trouble, but like schsa just said, it is a choice she made to do.

Sometimes I just wanna slap the il's into seeing what they are allowing her to do. If they stood their ground and make her get another job this wouldnt be happening.

I couldn't agree more!!! It IS her place to say something! It is because of dishonest (supposing the girl IS faking) people like that I am living paycheck to paycheck. I am honest, I don't screw people over to make my living, but yet I pay for those who do. It isn't fair and if I can play I small part in preventing it, then I WILL do it!
