It seems I entered a contest and won a car...the email asked to use the link and I had a option to have it diliverd or pick it up,I chose dilivery, dilivery will be By Feb 2004?...ok,most people would be jumping for joy but I am a skeptic I say "I'll believe it when I see it" that's why I chose dilivery I'm not going on a wild goose chase.

It's a 2004 Nissan Maxima,from what the email said satelite stereo,sun roof I guess loaded.But like I said...seeing is believing.

Do you have to pay taxes on that? lmao Just kidding. Congratulations! I hope that it's legitimate and in February you will be driving around in a brand new Maxima. :)

And actually, for something this big, wouldn't the contest people send you a certified letter (not an e-mail) and have you sign and affidavit?

Just from experience - the taxes amount to about 1/3 the value of the car or prize you won. The tax on prizes is a little different and higher. We won a car & $10,000 in the glove compartment from a radio station - and believe me - the only way we could have kept the car was with the cash part of the prize.

Congrats on your win!!! Enjoy the car.

I won a brand new Mazda truck in '96 and I am still paying the taxes on that year. I won it mid-year so that was considered income, $22K added to the income I made that year, put me in a really high tax bracket, to the tune of about 6K that I owed. I have never ever owed taxes in my life LOL
Good luck DBD!

Can't she sell it, pay the taxes and pocket the rest? That would be the easy thing to do I would think. Unless she really needs a new care.
