Questions For God

By Kimberly Snider
Missionary to the Philippines

It is not wrong to ask what kind of character God has, or how He could let bad things happen.

CBN.com -- "Surely I spoke of things I did not understand" (Job 42:3).

When our son had cancer, I was very angry with God and I had questions I wanted to ask Him. I wanted to know why He would let a child get cancer. I wanted to know why He hadn't protected my son like He promised. I was afraid to ask those questions. Who dares to be angry with God?

Two years after Mark got sick, I was in the car alone. I was stuck in traffic and listening to a pastor speak on cassette. The pastor said, "God will tell you anything you
want to know, but you don't always have the frame of reference to understand." God said, "Kim that is where you are. I would answer all of your questions, but you
don't have the background to understand me."

This is how I learned it is all right to be angry, and it is OK to question Him.

Are there some questions you would like to ask Him? Intelligent people always have times when they think that the things that happen do not match their concept
of God's love.

It is not wrong to ask what kind of character God has, or how He could let bad things happen.

I know this because I have done it. I have challenged God. Family and friends were angry and hurt that I asked God to explain some things, but God never was. He
waited patiently through my tantrums and my grief. In time, He answered me.

It is all right to ask God questions. David did, Job did, Moses did and you can.
