seriously, FBH how big are electric yellow lab females when they start to brood? I assume that since they are about the same as my blue convicts that they brood when they are about the same size as the blues got to be when they did?

we see a lot of the mating call but no brooding. unless the fry* are hiding good. i doubt it since i see no eating changes in the adult females.

probably because they are so mean the males say
NO WAY
when they finally come around

*am I the only one who sees the irony in the fact that baby fish are called FRY?????????

we've never seen the female holding eggs, she hides and usually does not eat is how we have to guess

no, she likes to hide anyway and attack whatever else swims by. has always done it, just really bad when she's in mom mode.

she was in a large castle, kind of like a hollow rock for her, and she'd wait at the entrance, just out of site and attack anything else that swam by. she didn't feel threatened. she was threatening. she's a piranha at heart.

okay, no more fish food jokes, CTW is trying to have a serious conversation here....

okay, one more....how many of the Corydora Catfish fit into a sardine can????

well tech
you should try a spam can instead, because of their shape. they are kind round, a sardine can is kinda flat, they won't even lay one deep in one of those.

besides, a bigger can means more in the can to eat, right?

and the old tank was in a high traffic area, but the new one isn't. there's also a LOT more room and places for her to attack from. last time i had my hand in there on one end of the tank, moving a rock, she came from across the tank to bite at me.

FBH do your do this:

Swim to the top and go into eating mode when you hold the food can to the glass

BUT

hide away if you hold a net up to the glass?

I have a pair of yellow labs(among other fishes). My female is holding with about 6 days to go.I have three huge pieces of Texas Holey Rock that I put together a swimthrough with. She really sent my cobalts into a fit when she set up mommy residence in there...she flies out an nails them in the gills everytime one swims by.The male lab hangs out on top of the swimthrough and leisurely watches the whole thing until she's out and then he goes in and out the back when she comes back. It's almost like a game to him...to see if he's fast enough not to get tail nipped.

I wish my digital camera worked, all I have of them is video.
