Let's all do a RAOK

Here's my idea. I'm not sure if and/or how it will work, but I want to start something where members going through tough times can be "adopted" by those who are blessed and can afford to help. Specifically what I want to do is find out who is having financial trouble and feels like they will be unable to do much for their kids this year for Christmas. Then, I would like for us BBSers - those who are able - to get together and get at least one *NEW* gift for each child in each family who has a need. I was thinking of a gift valued at about $20. And you BBSers can find the deals, so that doesn't mean you have to SPEND $20! Just get out there and find those bargains! You can sign up for one child or as many as you think you can help. I would like to get all gifts mailed by Dec. 10 so they get there in plenty of time. Also, I would like to let the parents wrap the gifts so the gift can be from them (or Santa, if they choose).

So, who's with me? Please reply here if you want to join this corporate RAOK. The deadline to sign up will be December 3. Then you will have one week to get a gift and get it mailed. Please if you sign up make sure to meet the deadlines! I want this to be a blessing and not a source of stress for anyone!

I still have 19 kids who need a gift! :eek: I have 3 people who signed up who have not gotten back to me, so I may be down to 16 if they all still want to help! But I need more people!

I hope there are still a few people who can help who haven't already signed up to help with other programs - or even if they have and are able and want to sign up here! Anyone?

Ok call me stupid but what in the world does RAOK stand for? I'd love to help out but our salary got cut in half due to some unfortunte circumstances and us having to move. :-( Its ok though cause we have food on the table and a roof over our heads. :-)

It can be anything not just money. Do a good deed for someone as small as opening the door for them if their arms are full or bigger like buying a stranger dinner in a restaurant when the bill comes.

Anything you can think of that would be a nice thing to do for another. But it has to be random. Like for a stranger who wouldn't suspect it.
