Don't know where to post this, but here it goes. My mother was diagnosed with some sort of tumor in her nasal area which is causing her to have a surgery...it's is not an intense surgery, but it's surgery all the same. She will get the tumor removed, but will be unable to talk for several weeks or months. Here's my problem...she wanted me to find her something that will speak for her after surgery. She doesn't want just a paper and pen, she wants something like a "Speak and Spell," we don't have lots of money, but I'm willing to entertain any suggestions. This device needs to be able to speak out loud what is written. Some kids toys will do that kind of stuff, but I can't seem to locate names of them or anything. Please, if you have ANY ideas, or know anybody who's had a similar problem, please let me know. thanks again and in advance. :)

If she has a computer she can use a text to speech program like read please. You can type it in and it will read what you typed.

Here's a link to all the electronic toys at Amazon that are for reading/writing. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/browse/-/589194/ref=br_bx_c_2_0/104-4393682-1007146

I didn't look through them, but I'm sure they have something that will let her spell the word and say it for her.
