Alright, every single morning between 8:06 and 8:09, I get a telemarketing call. The same time every morning. Yesterday morning they called at 8:06, and this morning they called at 8:06. I just hang up on them because I am asleep, so getting out, "hello" is an extreme effort, otherwise I would tell them to stop.

Okay, I feel better. LOL

Ahhh, hubby and I just talked about it, and we are getting Privacy Manager. Yay!!

I was going to suggest:
1) a loud whistle
2) pretend you don't speak English (I did this the other day when "charity" # whatever called me.)
3) get the name, address and phone # of the business calling (pretend you are interested in their product if you have to). Then report them to the FCC or some other organization that deals with complaints.

Calling you the same time daily is harassment. (Just my opinion.)

Heck yeah it's harassment. It is funny because right when I started typing this very post, the phone rang and it was another one. LOL. I just hung up. You tell them to take you off their list, and you get the "it will be 6 weeks before your request can be processed." I am just better off hanging up. Heck, can't wait to get the privacy manager thing going.

Another one I hate is if they call after 8 p.m.
I have had some call as late as 9 p.m. too. My youngest son goes to bed at 8:30, and oldest at 10. I HATE HATE HATE, when the telemarketers call, and wake us up!!

For during the day that is what I use my caller ID for. I NEVER answer a call if it has unknown name/unknown number on it. I usually just let it ring, but if it rings more than 2/3 times, i pick it up, and hang up (never had anyone call back yet after being hung up on.

I usually lay the phone down, and go about what ever I was doing. Then I go back several minutes later, and they have realized no one was listening, and have hung up.

Har har har. I mustered up the strength this morning to just tell them. They were late this morning. They didn't call until 8:56. Anyway, I said "my husband is not here, he is never going to be here when you call because you call right after he has left for work, so if you can't immediately remove him from your list, at least change the time you call. Can you do that?"

"Yes."

"Okay, well take me off your list, can you do that?"

"It will take 3 weeks."

"Okay, first change the time you call to sometime in the afternoon, and put in a request to remove us off of your list, okay?"

"Yes ma'am."

Yeyah! Funny thing is, neither one of us is home in the afternoon, ever! Anyhoo, hopefully that works so I can sleep in the mornings.

I very rarely get telemarking calls. First, my number is unlisted, so they can't get me in the book or online. Second, I NEVER put my phone number on my checks. If people ask, I simply say, "no, it's unlisted." Same thing when they try to get my number at the checkout; I always say no. When I place an order online, I use 555-1212 as my number. In the offchance that I do get one, I immediately request to be placed on their DNC list. I've never had anyone call me again after that. If they claim they are using a computer generated dialer, remember those babies are illegal! Get the name of the company and report them :)

Good luck with your privacy manager!

Thanks :) Hubby will be taking care of the privacy manager thing Monday, hopefully. Since the phone bill is in his name, he has to talk to them, so I have to get him on the ball :)

i got one the other day that was really rude... someone from a re-fi company... asked me if dad was here, i said no... then asked if he was my father or husband... that made me fly off right there! i told her it was none of her business and that our house had a mortgage on it already, she had nerve to ask the name of the mortgage company and again i told her it was none of her business. she then gives me an 800 number which i should have written down to report her, but i didnt. these people also call at the same times everyday... how annoying!!

here is a really cool article that Dave Barry had in the weekend paper, I think everyone will like what it has in it. Especially near the end!

Isn't he hilarious? :D

I saw a piece on Headline News the other day where the reporter had found out that all of the top executives of the telemarketing companies who are fighting the Do Not Call list... have their home phone numbers on it! Funny, isn't it?

That article is great. Thanks for finding that. I've said it before.. I would never purchase anything over the phone, so they are wasting their energies on me. There are a lot of people like me. Now, there are those people who do buy and try things, but I am surely not one of them. I am one of 50 million. Once upon a time, having a telephone was a pleasant thing. Now, you never know what you're getting into when the phone rings, but we have to have them. Oh well. :)

I *love* our privacy manager. Until yesterday we hadn't had a telemarketing call in over a year... but it seems that if they call w/ the computer generated message and just let it play out that it will still record it to the PM and will still ring to the house. Granted, this has only happened ONCE, it was still a little bit annoying cause we were walking out the door when it rang... but it's still better than listening to the phone ring all the time.

I can't wait until hubby gets on the ball and calls because the same telemarketers called again this morning, but instead of 8:06, 8:07, or whatever, they called at 8:58. UGHHHHHHH!
