METAIRIE, La. -- A Louisiana woman is being hailed as a hero for helping lead a man out of a burning house -- but she doesn't see it that way.

In fact, she thought she was in trouble when a public plea went out for her to identify herself.

Mary Beth Meyers said she didn't know why someone wanted to talk to her. She said it never dawned on her that she had done something courageous. Meyers said she never thought twice about rushing into a burning home while on her lunch break Monday.

Meyers was driving by when she saw the flames. She made a U-turn and called for help on her cell phone.

An 83-year-old woman made it out on her own -- but her 55-year-old son was still inside. Meyers went in and helped him get out.

When firefighters arrived, she told them she had to get back to work -- and ran off without giving her name.
