2 years ago today. I was 34 weeks pregnant with my third child. I came into the office just like any other day. When I got the news I was playing on the computer. The lady that worked for the Army ROTC came down do my office and told me, "They just bombed one of the World Trade Center buildings." I responded, "Okay". I honestly didn't think much about it. Heck, I didn't even know where the World Trade Center buildings were. Then, she called me on the phone, "The Pentagon has been hit by a plane." I sighed. I told my boss. We turned on the tv and watched. Then, the second tower was hit. I couldn't believe my eyes. I began wondering, "What are they going to hit next?" As I watched the second tower being hit, my thoughts wondered to my mother's first cousin who is a pilot. "God, please don't let that be Lee!" Then, my thoughts wondered to my first cousin, "Oh, I hope Lance wasn't traveling today." All the while praying my two children, who were traveling with my parents were safe and sound. Although we didn't know anyone that was there, we all felt the pain.
I had to tell my story. What is your's?

I was driving down the road and turned on the radio. The Howard Stern show was on, and as I cannot stand him, I went to change the channel and then they started shouting about the plane hitting the WTC. I thought it was a prank. I hurredly went home and turned on the TV. I had to turn it off eventually because it was scaring my son. What a horrible day.

I was outside about 8:30-9:00 weeding my flower beds. My son was scheduled to start playgroup the next day. I went in the house, my sister called me. She said, put on the tv, a plane hit the Twin Towers. I said, what the $#$%$??? I put on the tv and did not shut it off for the next who knows how many hours. I also live about 50-60 miles from Ground Zero, so I was a wreck. I kept thinking we would be bombed or worse. Jets kept screaming over our heads for days and nights after.(our planes sent to protect the coast) That night I didn't sleep. I was so scared. The next day I was a zombii at our playgroup...I later found out 2 of the moms who taught with me had husbands who were firefighters in NYC (they were fine, not injured). But many of their collegues died. It was a bad, bad day..

We were in San Diego and I didn't have to be at work until 9. I didn't wake up until about 8:30 and never turned on the tv in the morning. I tried CNN on the computer, but it wouldn't load. I thought "*&^&% cable modem." I finally got on MSNBC and saw somthing about the World Trade Center destroyed, but it was near the bottom and I thought it was some stupid game (I must admit MSNBC web page is NOT one of my favorites). So I got in my truck to go to work and heard it on the radio. Cried all the way to work (45 minutes) and most of the day. I worked with people from many different countries(Romania, Egyptian, Canadian, German, etc.) and they were all shocked and consoling all the Americans in the office. Some people went home, but my husband had just started USMC Recruiting School, so I had no one to go home to. I just stayed at work with my co-workers watching tv and listening to the radio. I just remember thinking I would never be happy again that whole week, you know? That I would never be able to laugh at tv or a joke. I had never felt that way, even when my mother died.

I didn't even have the T.V. on early as my hubby, son and me were rushing around getting ready to go get my mom to got to my aun'ts funeral:( When we walked in mom's house she had the T.V. on and we watched in horror like everyone else for a bit then went to funeral then when everybody gathered at my cousin's house afterwards...we all sat and and watched and...talk about numb. Sad day all around :(

I was taking the kids to school and they started to argue, to drown them out I turned on the radio, which I normally never do...The first plane had just hit moments before and they still thought it might be a private plane (this report from Chicago) by the time I had unloaded the kids it was clear something was wrong. I came home and told my husband something big is happenening in New York. We turned on CNN saw the second plane hit and left the t.v. on all day. My husband stayed home from work to watch the developments. I talked to my sister on the phone on and off all day and was talking to her when the towers fell, she had friends and buisiness associates in both towers. I had gotten in a car wreck on Sept. 10 and tried to rent a car on the 11th , not one to be found in the state.

Well my husband was working the 2-11 shift so we were just spending the day morning with the kiddos. I went to take a shower about 12:30 and when I came out he said, I just turned on the tv apparently a plane hit the world trade center, I thought he was joking, never in my wildest dreams would have guesses it was ture. Finished getting ready in like 30 seconds and sat in front of the tv until it was time for him to go to work, then drove him to work and came back home and just watched in horror and tried in vain to call all my family in boston. Thankfully I finally got thru and no one was traveling that day.

You know this is another event where everyone can remember what they were doing, the one other that my grandmother remembers most is when JFK was assisnated, both trajic times in history. I was sleeping when my mom called me and told me, at first I thought it was a dream, I watched the TV from that moment on all day long:rolleyes:

I was watching ER on TNT as I did every morning, and they didn't break into that programming until later in the day. My hubby called me from work and told me about it. :( I immediately changed the channel and was just dumbfounded, in shock, etc. it just seemed so surreal and hard to believe. :( I spent the next few days just glued to the tv and crying the whole time it seemed. Then the nightmares came. :( I can still remember it all like it was yesterday, and will never forget all those that lost their lives. May God bless all the families that are having to relive the horror today, and every day. :(

I was getting the kids ready for school and saw the Trade Centers on the tv with smoke coming out of them. I thought it was the anniversary of the bombing of the Trade Centers and didn't pay any attention to it. I didn't know what happened until hours later when I went to pick my dot up from kindergarten. The office staff told me what happened.
I went home then and turned on the television. We have lots of friends in New York City and I knew I would never be able to get through to them, so I called my cousin. She works for John Hopkins. She is part of a nursing team that goes out around the United States when a disaster occurs, so I knew she would be heading out. She finally got in touch with all of our friends (it took days) and they were all fine.
Edited to add-- Our school held a memorial for the victims. One of our teachers lost several loved ones in the Trade Centers and a friend on one of the planes.
Hubby and I were getting ready for the grand opening of the Wal-Mart Distribution Center he was working at. I was turning off the tv just as the second tower was hit. We went to the grand opening, everyone was seated, marines had the flags and were standing on the stage, the highschool band was seated behind the stage, and then the manager came out and told everyone what was going on in New York, cancelled the grand opening, and the band played something patriotic as we all exited. Then we came back home and turned the tv on and watched the news the rest of the morning in total shock.

My sister called to tell me and to check up on her son (I was babysitting him). I was like what the heck are you talking about? she had to tell me like 3x's before I really *got* it. I had no clue what the twin towers were.... She laughed at me and asked me what #)$%(%*(*% planet I was on and told me to turn on the t.v. and hung up on me.
I watched t.v. and then I had an job interview that afternoon. The city was eerily quiet and it was creepy having to drive in, nothing was normal that day.

I was at my parents on the computer wallowing in my ownself( was going through bad depression) and my mom hollered and told me the towers were just struck with a plane, I was like "oh well" at that time in my life I could have cared less what was happening, awhile later she hollered OH My God another plane just hit.. I can remember I went to the living room and watched tv for a few minutes but the rest of that day was a blur...It is a day that I will never forget.

I had just gotten into my car and was on my way to work. When I first heard about the bombing, I thought it was just property damage. By the time I got to work, a plane had hit the Twin Towers and I was in shock. We were then watching it at work. That night my husband was commenting on how eerie it was to see no planes in the sky.
It was like a death in the family. The pain didn't let up for quite a while and when it did... well, it will never totally go away.

Well it always seems that when ever I am scheduled to go on a vacation some one famous dies, or something tragic happens. We were scheduled to go to Ireland for a Wedding and we were going to leave the 11th and for some reason I told my DH that I didn't feel right taking the trip let's not go to the wedding etc. I was at work when they turned on the TV and we thought we were watching another replay when it was actually the second one getting hit. My Inlaws work in the Stock Market. So I quickly called my DH (He was @ work), told him what happened I think he was in schock and told him to call his Dad and I would call his stepmom. Fortuantly his dad was in NC, but his stepmom had just gotten off the train in the towers, and was walking up the street when all of a sudden she felt the boom and saw her Boss get knocked down. She was one of the many people walking over the Bridge. She has Asthma and the smoke was so bad she ended up in the Hospital for 10 days. WHich in the grand scheme of things wasn't so bad.(But she did find God and became very religious) Our Company thought it would be better if we were home w/ our loved ones in this time so we got out early. My husband and I ordered chinese food and stayed on the couch watching the TV. I wasn't even born for the JFK, I don't remember Reagen getting shot.

I was at school, just starting my second week. I was sitting in my car listening to the radio before class. I turned it off just before everything happened. I got to class and heard some ladies talking about the WTC, but then they mentioned the previous bombing and that is what I thought they were talking about. So our professor came in and mentioned that a plane had hit the towers. I remember thinking that is weird but I honestly thought at that point it was a small private plane and that someone who wasn't used to flying it had gotten off track and hit the building, I remember thinking I will have to watch the news tonight to see if they mention it. So we go on with class and during a break some people went to the room next door, then one of the ladies came back and said something about the towers collapsing, I was like what the heck is she talking about. So I ran into the room next door and they had the tv on and it was chaos. I had no idea what was going on. Shortly after class resumed and everybody was a little uneasy not knowing the extent of what was happening. Then a woman from the college came into our room and told us the school was closing and we were to leave immediatley. It was a mob scene, I was stuck in the parking lot for almost 30 minutes waiting to get out and at that point all sorts of things were being reported on the radio that turned out to be false, but it was terrifying.

I was in bed recuperating from having a Hysterectomy done. My hubby woke me up when it happened and at first I was groggy from pain meds and didnt believe him at first and then I realized it was the real thing happening. We sat in bed and watched the ordeal as it happened. Of course it brought tears to my eyes watching this horrible event happening.

I was home, getting ready to go to work. I was watching the news, and they said a plane just hit the WTC...
I logged in to BBS, and started a thread:
http://forums.bigbigsavings.com/showthread.php3?threadid=110803
Then I sat there, watching the news, knowing it wasn't an accident. Then the second plane hit, as I was talking to my wife on the phone... I told her we were being attacked (she told me NOT to go to work, because I drive through DC, right past the Pentagon).
Had I left for work when I had planned to, I probably would have seen the plane hit the Pentagon.
I spent all morning on the phone and online, contacting all my friends and co-workers, making sure they were okay.... we all found out later than 'several' of our acquaintences would not be coming out of the Pentagon....:(

I was asleep on the couch, after another sleepless night, and the phone rang. It was not late, but too early for me to get up after 3 hours sleep. I let it go to answering machine, then I heard my oldest son (Michael) telling me in a sense of urgency to turn the tv on. I grabbed the phone and said hello. He just said "Mom, turn the tv on, this is terrible". Michael was in his 3rd year of the Navy, and 20 years old. I turned the tv on and right within seconds saw the 2nd plane hit. My mind has never felt such dread as quickly as it did at that moment. I did not even have to ask who? or why?. I knew it was an attack against us by a radical group and I knew it was regarding our political or military intervantion on behalf of another nation. My son finally said "Mom, you okay?". I just cried and had such sorrow for the people trapped and knowing how frightened they where. My heart broke. I did not, at moment even consider that Michael would ever have to be a part in the big picture of this. I just thought that he would be put on alert as the majority of the military would be. Long story story, in the middle of May 2003, Michael finally arrived home after spending a year on board the USS Abraham LIncoln, stationed off the coast of Iraq. His ship and the crew were a very important part of the intinal military force we Americans viewed on network news. How proud I was of my "young" son, but also scared and worried. When he came home for his "vacation" I saw a changed young man. Michael has always been mature, but September 11th caused my son to have America and her citizens to be the number 1 focus in his life. All of us need to look at our 20 something armed force members and have that kind of pride and be willing to defend and protect our home. God Bless America!!

I had worked late the night before, so I didn't get up and dressed until late. I had just gotten my boys their breakfast, and i walked into the living and turned on the TV. It was about 10:30 Mountain Time. Both towers had already been hit and one had already fallen. I didn't understand what I was seeing. Then the other fell. I felt this weird feeling in my gut, and got scared. I tried to call my husband so he could explain to me what happened. But he wasn't available, so I called a friend. We were both in disbelief.
For the rest of the week, we tried to shield our sons from seeing it on TV. But our almost 4 year old had seen enough of it to tell my friend over and over how the planes crashed into the building.
6 months later, my boys and I were flying home for a wedding, and that same son kept asking the flight attendant (who was sitting next to us) when the slides were going to come out when the plane crashed. She kept giving me this look... The boys also thought the shoe check I was "randomly" selected for was fun. (I'm sure it wasn't random, it was the diaper bag, and the backpack, and the carry-on, and the car seat i was hauling on the plane. hey, I tried to keep it light!)

I was watching the TODAY Show,, and when they broke to the pics of the first tower being on fire, I phoned my mother in NY. They had the live TV shots of the tower on fire and we watched the second plane hit tower II together. It was so spooky.I was so unreal to be sitting there and watch it all happen.
I also have a aunt who works at the Pentagon. She in the section of the building where the plane hit. They said many more would have been hurt, but that section was being remodled at the time. Her section had only been out about a week and a half.

I was actually watching CNN with my fiance and drinking coffee dreading the day ahead of college (my last year of it) and then a full work day...We both called in sick for both and watched all day long...We should have been watching out our front window though because someone came by and stole our 2 flags that we had out (we always do)...It took us MONTHS to find even one to serve as a replacement. I tried looking on ebay for one and they were going for HUNDREDS of dollars and I decided I would make a sign to the person that stole the flags saying how sad of a person they must be to do something like that and that they should be ashamed of themselves

I was driving to my parent's house and I heard it on the radio. I didn't pay much attention to it and turned it off to put in a CD. I just thought "Ugh," basically. Then I got to my parent's house and my mom had the news on. My dad was at work. She asked me if I had seen it and I said I heard a little bit of it on the radio. I thought it was someone crashing their personal plane. I wasn't paying attention. I was sitting there talking to my mom and we stopped every once in a while to see what was happening. I still wasn't interested. I didn't know what was happening, and I didn't really care. I was a little annoyed that my mom kept being distracted by it.
So after I left there, I came home & called my X to tell him I made it home okay. He sounded upset. I asked him what was wrong and he asked if I watched the news. I said yea, but what about it? So after I got off the phone with him, I turned it on.
I watched it for about 3 days back to back, crying non-stop. I was in shock. I couldn't believe what was happening. I still can't.

I'll never forget that morning. I was on 3rd shift at that time and in bed asleep. I heard my son calling for Mom real low so as not to startle me awake and he told me that 2 planes had flown into the Trade Center Building. I somehow thought it was the weekend and asked if anyone was hurt and he said yes, Mom, thousands. He then told me about the attack on the Pentagon. The first words out of my mouth was "OH my God,we have been attacked". Randy told me that as soon as he saw the first airliner fly into the Trade Center he knew that it was an act of terriorism. He works in the airline industry and he told me that he knew that a live pilot would never fly into a building, that he would ditch the plane some place where it would do the least harm.
Our family very nearly lost 2 members that day. My nephew worked in the Trade Center but was out of state when it happened and unbeknown to me, I had a cousin in the Pentagon but he was in a different part of the building.

Hubby used to let me sleep in on mornings he didn't have to work, so I was in bed. He woke me up and told me the world trade centers had been hit by planes, and I said something like "you woke me up for THAT?!?!" I had no idea (as dumb as this will make me sound, lol) what the heck the world trade centers were. It wasn't until about 11am that I woke up and started REALLY watching the news that I figured out what they were and then that the pentagon had been hit. It was the most horrible feeling. For weeks, all the news stations spoke of was that, nuclear attacks, and biological attacks. I had nightmares for MONTHS, and was scared all the time of what would happen.
