zip disk recovery

Does anyone know where you can get get files off a zip disk besides iomega*I think the prices start at $500!!* I have sentimental things on my zip disk and it's not even loading now on my pc :(

I would look in the yellow pages or in the back of computer magazines and such under "data recovery"

Is it just that it can't read that particluar disk, or is the zip drive itself not working?
