They are still refusing to enroll my son in school. I
have provided them with everything that is required and
still they insist that i have a legal seperation document.
If i don't have that, he will have to go to the old school.
I asked who is going to take him and the woman said "well
i guess he will have to live with your mom". This is total
bull. I contacted legal aid and they agree with me that
the school has no right to ask for a legal seperation.
So she is contacting the school lawyers and trying to work
something out. In SC you don't even have to have a legal
seperation to get a divorce. Jason is qualified to go
to the school under extreme hardship program because his
psychiatrist provided a letter saying it is medically
necessary that he go BUT they are not accepting transfers
and that would qualify under a transfer. I was told by
one member of the school board that they are giving me a
hard time because this school is a Blue Ribbon school and
they are trying to keep people out. They even had the
school district social worker come to my house yesterday
and interview me and see the kids rooms. He said that
everything looked fine and he would not put nothing negative
in his report but the final approval will go to the freaking
witch who was giving me such a hard time in the first place.
I called her today to see if she could give me the status
and she said that she still has to talk to the school lawyers
cause i still have a phone in my name under a different addy.
So freaking what, I have given them everything with the new
addy on it. Dang if i only had a gun......
Tuesday i had a major panic attack at work over all of this.
I was in tears the entire day. All i could think of was that
i totally wanted to just run away. I had it all planned out that i would sleep at work and everything. I'm tired of having to be responsible for all this crap. I had to go to the doctor
yesterday for medicine for all of this. I called the legal
aid lawyer who is trying to help me and she said that i should
not have to pay for a legal seperation when it is not necessary.
Since i have provided everything they have asked for. The
filing fee is $100 for a seperation and then they have another
fee that i would have to pay also. Someone please give me my
sanity back, come shoot me or send me a valium. Or if you are a
lawyer or know a lawyer, see if they will just draft up a letter
stating that they are representing me and i am filing for a legal
seperation but it will take several months to get into court for it.

If anyone has any advice, please email me. I can't afford a real
attorney. And i have called everyone i can think of like school
board members, the superintendant etc. and nothing is working.

I would call the Superintendent of Schools of the school district here in PA where my son goes if I was getting this type of problem.

I am not sure how your schools are set up but here that is the top person in our school district.

Just keep raising a stink and don't give up. The school is just being a PIA and if you have to you should get a lawyer and sue the school board for all of this. It is completely unnecessary.

first off the school had no right asking for the seperation parers unless their is a protection order for your child.

second call the school district and make a apt and go down their and speak to them in person. because they don't listen when you call.

their first words are going to be did you talk to the school princ.. thay is always their first thing. but stand firm because if that is your sons home school they can not stop him from going their. hope this helps some.

I think I would let her know I was not putting up with her crap and i had a lawyer and that if she kept insisting on a document that was not required by law to get a divorce or to have parental custody then I was going to sue the school and her, I would let her know that she would not be hiding behind her job her name would be listed as a defendant. She thinks she is safe hiding behind her job title and that she won't be held accountable for her actions ut once she realizes thats not going to be the case she might change her tune.

I think that is is all a load of crap, and agree, with everyone else..they don't have the right to demand divorce or seperation papers.. I also say CALL THE SUPER INTENDANT OF SCHOOLS!!!!

I also would call the local newspaper, the local television stations, and local radio stations...any and every media avenue availalbe to you..the bigger stink you raise, the more the school and the district will listen to you. They don't want the bad publicity. I would also NAME NAMES!! Make sure you name the woman who is giving you the hard time to the media...the school will probably be so embarrased by this thye will fire her, and then she won't be able to so this to anyone else!

Find out when your school board meeting is. And go to it. And bring it up then. School board meetings have the newspaper at it, so they can write the article for the month. You may want to call your state representative, because your schools are state run. GL

they cannot keep your son out of school, it is against the law. Call and write your local representatives, call and write your state representatives. call and write your federal representatives. Every time you write a letter, make a copy of it. Keep everything, every time you telephone them keep a record of it, not on the computer, just get a little notebook put down the date who you called, and who you talked to. You're fighing for your son's educational life, it's worth it.
Hey if all else fails, write to Mrs. Bush she is for education. Did you write to your governor's office, yep you need to play dirty pool. Don't forget to get in touch with the local newspapers, hey even hit the newspapers of larger towns, and cities. We have to get the ball rolling. I am just a parent/grandparent that is concerned about doing the right thing, one thing I did learn is they cannot deny your son education. Get all the proof you need to get your son in the local school. I hope I don't give you any false hope.
