My son turned 4 yesterday and today we went to BR to get some ice cream and to use that coupon that they e-mailed on his b-day. Well, the owner didn't know anything about it and she was so loud and almost screaming like I was trying to rob her or something. She accused me of "making myself" that coupon. I told her that I would pay for 2 cones for my kids and I will call them and find out what is going on but I will never go to that BR again!!!!!   I just could not believe her attitude! And she was asking where did I get it from few times and I just couldn't do anything to shut her up! Even after I paid, she was still talking about it and I didn't want to leave right away b/c I didn't want kids to mess my car with ice cream. So anyway, some people are just plain RUDE and NASTY!!! and tomorrow BR will get a phone call from me......

Oh I hope you got her name. I would also write to the main headquarters and raise holy heck!

The same thing happend to me in April when I took my DD to get her's. Do call BR. I did and they sent me a coupon for 2 free cones. For them to accuse you of "making it yourself" is just plain NUTS! Especially considering it doesn't even LOOK like something you printed off the internet.

lol... you should have been sarcastic back to her and go "oh yeah, I have a machine at home that just prints off any kind of coupon that I want".;)

Was it the Baskin and Robbins that you put in your profile when you signed up for the Birthday Club? If it was, that location should be on the coupon. On my dots it said for use at Canyon Road Baskin and Robbins.

Sorry that the lady acted so badly. There is no sense in that. I hope corporate can help you out.

I think businesses are going to be very cautious when accepting coupons because of all the people who are taking advantage of them by saving files and then selling them on ebay or printing out several coupons to use themselves when it's supposed to be a one per person deal. Pretty soon businesses won't offer coupons or special offers because of this. The woman should not have been rude about it. I know that on some coupons that I've had it will say at participating stores only. Not every store will accept them.

Sorry you were treated so badly, hope the Main office of BR makes good on the coupon. I know I had a problem with the area Eckerds. I filed a complaint to the head office, and they called and sent me free coupons for being treated poorly by one of their managers. Plus if you don't let the upper managment know, this manager will do this to others.Hope your little one had a great birthday.

That's terrible that you were treated that way! My dot's b-day is coming up and I signed her up for that. Now I don't know if I'll do it. I'm not driving 30 or 40 miles away to be called a liar!

The coupon had my son's name and that store address with phone #. She was very suprized and everytime I think about it, I can still see her upset face with those ugly teeth:eek: saying "This looks like a coupon that you made on your computer! I never ever seen one of these and I don't know about any birthday clubs either!"

  :( :( This is definately NOT WORTH IT!!!!!!

THis is the e-mail I got:

Dear XXXXXXX,

Baskin-Robbins wishes Alexander a 31-derful Birthday. Click here for a FREE ice cream coupon.

Have a 31-derful day!

- Baskin-Robbins Birthday Club

If that what they mean by a 31-derful day: an ambarassment, accusation of lying and the feeling like you tried to rob them or something, then I'll take my kids somewhere else for ice cream next time!!!

Ok, I just called. The rep was nice (whoooh!!!!) and he logged in a complaint to that store and also he will be sending me an apology letter with GCs!!!! Thank you all for your support! Now I feel a little better. When I get those GCs, I will be spending them at another location and I will never set my foot to that store again even when it's much closer in distance!

I think some people are just internet coupon illiterate...the companies have to take the time to teach the cashiers/employees about internet coupons especially the computer illiterate employees..some stores I have been to, people there asy they have never seen/heard of internet coupons. At my local grocery store i am the ONLY person that uses them (I live in a pretty small town with one grocery store). But the only time they won't take them is if it is printed bad quailty, and they have problems reading them.

Well, we live in Tacoma, WA and it is a big town. Whenever I use internet coupons, sometimes cashiers tell me that they've seen it before.

In this case she is the owner and her store is participating in birthday club and she never heard of birthday club before???? She is Asian and I personally have nothing against Asian people and I have few friends who are Asian or part Asian but I did notice that when I use coupons either at Asian restaurant or store, they get so upset and try anything not to take them. I think that some Asian people took over Rite Aid and when I went there, they had manager and casheir who were Asian and they refused to take any coupons that made the product free...  The toothpaste was on sale and I had $1 off coupon making it free but they said that they will not take it so I said that I don't want it and went to another Rite Aid nearby and they took it without even questioning it. I shop only there now but once I did get to that store again and there was Revlon shadow on clearance for $2.12 and I had few coupons $2 off any Revlon and same cashier started telling me that since it's only going to be $.12 for me, she cannot take these coupons. I demanded to see manager and luckily the manager was a caucasian man and he told her to take them.
And to say again, I have nothing against Asian people but these are just few examples of what they put me through when it comes to coupons.....:(

Which Baskin and Robbins did you go to? I also live in Tacoma, and there are only a couple of stores here that do the Birthday club. It is kind of a pain, but a lot of the stores just don't take part in it because of the cost.

4326 Bridgeport Way West

I like the one on 6th ave better but I don't think that they participate in birthday club.

They should have taken it then, they are on the website as being one of the Birthday Club stores. We usually go to the one on 72nd Street since we know the owners or the one on Canyon.

That is just awful that she acted like that.

It was afwul.....

After she said that she never seen this kind of coupon and don't know about birthday club, I said that I will pay for both cones but she just couldn't shut up and kept almost screaming about it and asking where did I get it from, accusing me, etc. even after I paid for them! I was getting very furious and if my family wasn't with me at that time, the cone would've been in her face, yes, the one that I already paid for.

This person has no respect for customers and for other people's feelings.... There were people at the store that I know from my daughter school and now I just feel so embarassed about this whole situation. Yes, the owner will get some complaint or whatever from corporate office, yes, they will send me apology letter with some GC BUT I will never forget about it and I just feel embarassed facing those people that were at the store and heard the whole thing ever when I didn't do anything wrong! :( :( :(

I definitely don't blame you. I would have been embarassed also. I also would complain big time about it.

I think you should print out that site that has her store listed as participating in the B-Day Club. See what she says about that when it comes up that she's there with a few other BR's.

Just my opinion though.
