I have never had one before, but I think I have one.

I have been drinking nothing but water for the past 3 days, and then about 1:30 this afternoon I go to the bathroom and it feels like I have to go pee so bad even thought I just went. Now it is hurting everytime I go. Still drinking lots of water though. :( :( :( This sucks

Do you think it would be ok if I took some amoxicillin to help it clean up quicker? Thanks :( :(

Cranberry juice !!!!!!
I keep it on hand for that, and it really works. The older it is the better. I buy a jug of it and just leave it in my ice box for emergences. By the time I use it, it has fermented I guess. LOL...but fresh juice works good too.

I take the cranberry extract every day to help prevent UTI's. If you don't like the juice, try the extract. You can get it at any drug store, Kmart, etc. Not expensive either, like 2 bucks for 100 count. It has helped me. Just a thought :)

Hope you feel better soon!!

Cranberry juice

also, yogurt--for the good bacteria, it helps kill the bad (I don't like yogurt, but I can stand Le Creme, it doesn't taste as much like paste as the regular kind does) and yogurt does help too

Oh I just wanted to add that if your urine turns a bright orange after taking the pills don't be alarmed. That is completely normal. It's about time they came out with an over the counter product for this.

Heck, I didn't know there was an over the counter medicine. That is so cool!

ttistin, hope you get to feeling better. Those things are painful, I know, had a really bad one about seven years ago that made me just want to keel over. Hang in there!

They have a few. The ones I know of are AZO, Uristat and Cystex. There may be more that I don't know of.

If you don't like the taste of plain ole cranberry juice, I've always had luck w/the cranberry juice cocktails. Ocean Spray makes like CranApple, CranGrape, etc. Those always worked for me if I got uti.

Do you have a temperature? I had a UTI earlier this year and, because we were in the process of selling our house, etc...I treated it with cranberry juice only. I just thought I had too much going on to deal with it at that time.

The end result...I ended up in the hospital! My doctor told me that cranberry juice was a great preventative to UTI's...but once it was in my system, only antibiotics could get rid of it.

I was running a fever of 104.5 degrees! Even though I was drinking tons of liquids...I was severely dehydrated.

I would call the doctor if I were you. Let him/her determine if it is worth treating OTC. I really learned my lesson and won't ignore the symptoms every again.

God do I feel sorry for you, I've had so many urinary tract infections lately, seems like there must be something else wrong but they can't find anything.
Rite Aid carries the AZO products. Cranberry tablets (my doctor suggested I take them instead of the juice. 50 in a bottle.) AZO also has pills for vaginal yeast infection, they do work. Also if you use the CYSTEX (next to the AZO products), it does not turn your urine that ugly red-orange color. My doctor gave me CIPRO, because the Microbid didn't work. I had to do another urine culture this morning, requested by a different doctor. I'll find out the results in 3 to 4 days.
I drink water, gator aide, they say tea helps. God I don't know, I just feel sorry for the ones that have it, pain is terrible. Have a good day
