:( I feel for both of you! My 4 year old daughter just got over chicken pox. What worked for us was benadryl and oatmeal baths. Aveeno sells an oatmeal bath thing that worked wonderful for my little one. She didn't itch much and was alot more comfortable. I hope that she gets over them real quick! ((((Hugs)))) to both you!!

Cocoa butter helps too, softens the spots, so they are less likely to scar

Thanks guys :) My friend brought over some Aveeno oatmeal bath and some Aveeno lotion. I have been giving her bendadryl. I called Dr. and I guess the vaccine for chicken pox is supposed to make them not get quite as bad of a case but it did not work for her. She is running a temp and very uncomfortable. She does seem better after the oatmeal bath about 1/2 hour ago.

Poor little one! Of all the times to get chicken pox, the day before we are supposed to have the hottest day of the year. :( Lots of tepid baths should help with the fever. The oatmeal baths are great. If you run out of the Aveeno, just put oatmeal in a sock and tie off the end. Run warm water over it then wring it out over her. I do this for my dot who gets hives all the time.

Try dotting calamine lotion on the spots with a q-tip. It helps stop the itching so that you don't have to rely on the benadryl as much. The q-tip works better so that you do not have to touch or spread the pox and further. She'll look like a polka dotted girl, but what the hey!
It is also a good idea to wash her sheets each night. Hope she feels better soon - I did this with both of my DD's back to back while DH was deployed - NO FUN!

chicken pox yuk!!!!!!!!!!!! I remember years ago when I had six kids down with chicken pox at one time. Don't ask me how I survived I don't remember. Youngest at the time was about 3 months, the oldest about 7. She brought them home from school.
Yea they say baking soda in the bath water helps. Wanna hear something else, you have chicken pox as a child. You children bring it home and you say 'oh say thank goodness I had them as a child'. Well people do you know you can get shingles from chicken pox. Yep, us older people can get shingles. how about that for s sour note. Have a good day

I had three down with it at once. My kindergartener (at the time) brought it home. My 9 month old got it along with her 34 year old daddy. I had to switch to cloth diapers because the plastic was hurting her tummy spots. My husband got them so bad in his lungs, they almost hopitalized him. Good thing I can forge his sig, as the air force wouldn't let him off work without a leave slip. lol His CO watched me sign it. They wouldn't let him come in to sign as there were other men who hadn't had the CP.
All in all, I'd have rather gone to Jamaica. ;)
I swore by benadryl and calamine. Just don't use the calamine spray. It hurts! And you can make Aveno in the blender. One cup of regular oatmeal, and blend for a minute or so. That stuff gets expensive.
Good luck!
