I work at a drycleaners.
I work in the mornings by myself. I am always extemely busy
but manage to get everything done by myself without having
to call the other store for help. Well the afternoon shift
has 3 people working and they are always complaining about
it being so slow and them not having anything to do. They
will run to the store, do the crossword puzzle, read etc.
Yet, every morning when I come in I have to empty the trash
and order bags from the main store to put the clothes in.
Why can't they do this in the afternoons if it is so slow?
It hasn't been bothering me till this morning and then it
just ticked me off so bad. I work my butt off in the mornings
and its just me. And there are 3 of them but they can't even
empty the trash or anything. Plus when I get in to work, they
have left the air conditioner on 50 degrees all night so its
freezing and all of the windows are frozen up.

I know that they shouldn't have to be reminded, but maybe just to help you out some, leave them a note to remind them that these things need to be done, or else talk to your supervisor.
I know how you feel,
I worked 2nd shift in a deli once, and the first shift would leave things like taking out the trash, dirty slicers, and dishes for us on 2nd shift to do, knowing that this is the busy part of the day and that we had no time to mess with anything like that, plus before we even left the store the place had to be spottless and all the food and salads had to be prepared for the next day, FOR THEM so they could get things done, so we had NO TIME for this crap, so I started leaving post it notes on the wall for them to let them know what needed to be done, or I would write them notes to tell them that I didn't appreciate any of this at all. I didn't mind taking out the trash or doing some dishes, but everyday??? anyways I finally got a "talk" from my manager telling me that the people from 1st were complaining about my notes, so I told her to come in on 2nd shift just to see what I was talking about, she did and things were changed for 1st shift.

I hope things get taken care of real soon!

dena, aren't you the one with the woman who wouldn't let anyone sit on her chair? She's too busy protecting her seat to do any work:p

Yes, Ckerr that was me, lol. She quit though thankfully.
Now the third person working with us is a 13yr old girl.
Her daddy is good friends with the owner. She was bored
sitting home with her Nanny all day so she wanted to work.
So her daddy talked to the owner into letting her "work"
for us. They have some special deal about letting her
work there. I don't know what it is but the owner said
it is not costing him anything.

A 13 year old with a Nanny probably doesn't know how to take out the garbage. Her dad drops her off and picks her up and then gives her money for doing a good job. Sad, sad, sad.....
