How much is it to ride the bus where you live? It used to be $1 for students and people under 18, and $1.25 for everyone else. Now they jacked up the prices to $1.75 for everyone. I didn't know that when I tried to get on last night from the mall... they almost didn't let me on but I was lucky I had another $1 bill. How much do you guys have to pay to ride city buses? Either I'm gonna have to get my license soon, or buy a bus pass for $28. Am I just too poor to ride the bus, or does this seem high?

Here the base fair is $1.75. If you are going through more than 1 zone, I think it is $2.35. I don't take the bus that often. Only if hubby is working and I need to go to the post office or if one of the kids has an appointment.

depends on where, which line, and if you need a transfer, here. most routes were $1 or $2 last time i was riding. you should be able to buy tokens at a discounted rate without getting a bus pass.

All i know is......when I rode the P&R from home to DT is was $2. The inbound route was such that if i caught the first bus of the day from P&R i could get off at the first stop and walk to work and it wasnt too bad (closer plus not yet daylight). but to get to the PM pickup back to the P&R I had to catch another bus to ride across DT, and then get on at a stop for the P&R and it was $3 or $4, i don't remember. no way was I walking across DT in houston summer.

I've never taken the bus! I don't like public transportation. I just checked their website and it's $1.40. Monthly passes are $45 for adults, $27 for students. dang!!

Here it is $1.15 for local service and light rail ($.55 seniors). They also have regional, express and skyride. Don't know how much those are though. A bus pass for local is $35/month.

Oh yeah, during the summer months they have a "just for youth pass" for $10/month.

Wow...FurgY....that sure is a lot!!!

Being out in the middle of nowhere it is surprising that we do have a public transportation system!

You must call 24 hours in advance in order to use it since it runs no direct routes (it will come to your house and pick you up) at the cost of $2.00

Guess I am getting off cheap! Ours is 50 cents for students in school (including adults :))/seniors/disabled persons; 75 cents for regular fare; $17.50 for a student/senior/disabled persons bus pass per month; and $25 for others a month. Seniors/Disabled people in town also have something called Paratransit where they can call for free (ahead of time) and go anywhere you want to go in town. You can donate money if you want to, tho. :)

DH buys a monthly bus pass (we live over 50 miles from where he works and you don't even want to try to drive) and it is $90.00 a month. This saves him $10.00 a month over buying tickets.

I have NEVER ridden public transportation. Not a bus, not a taxi, not anything like that.

Then again, I lived 4 roads off of the main highway, too.

Where I live you can hop on a bus just about anywhere and go just about anywhere. We even have one bus that goes to Portland (it costs $8.00

My kids love to ride the bus. I like the no hassles of traffic. You would have to try to drive out here to understand. We live just over 50 miles from Seattle, the speed limit is 60 mph-- some days it can take 3 hours to get to Seattle. Somedays shorter, but it usually takes about 2 hours.

No buses here, my Mom does recall that there was a bus that came through here if you walked a mile or so and you could ride it to town to catch another bus to anywhere you wanted to go but now there is no bus here. Or none in town either.

Trolley and buses are 2 dollars here in Philly. Transfers are 50 cents I believe. The El train is still 2 dollars I think. Been a while since I used the El. Now Septa wants to raise our fares again. Every time Septa workers have a strike, the riders get screwed with fare hikes. I really hate Septa but it's all we got.

Guess it isn't to bad. Here there are bus stops that take you everywhere!! We also have a trolly. When you pay for bus fair transfers are free and you can get on another bus, or get on the trolly (and go as far as the $1.75 will take you, unless you upgrade) for 90 minutes before it expires. I usually take the bus to the mall, or Walmart, or our new shopping center. Now I think I'll wait for grandpa to drive me.
