This is frustrating to no end so any thoughts are appreciated...as long as they are positive. I have been in a very stressful family situation which became a lot worse Saturday. Since then I can't sleep...I get really sick to my stomach throughout the day, I don't eat, I have had a migraine since Saturday that won't go away with any meds, and my muscles this morning are hurting so incredibly bad. I can tell my blood pressure is getting high because my face is swelling up and that's also probably why the migraine won't go away. Now, here is the really awful part...I called my OB doctor today, to see if there is anything he can prescribe to help me get through the worst of this. I have a 14 month old and am 18 weeks preg, so I need to start feeling better. The girl refused to let me speak to a dr., she spoke to a nurse FOR me, and ended up having Tylenol 3 called in to the pharmacy. I told her that with my migraines Tylenol DOES NOT WORK! I have been taking Excedrin (which is really not good during preg.) and that isn't even working this time. She didn't even tell them about the other problems I guess. I am so upset because this is really affecting me physically. There is no way to "remove myself from the stressful situation" like she told me to. It involves my family and there just isn't any way to get away from it right now. I see this dr. because he takes my medicaid...not many do around here i guess. I am really thinking about changing doctors, but maybe i shouldn't since I am almost halfway through the pregnancy. I don't know what to do. I called a general practitioner that is going to see me when I have a car and can get to the office on Friday. I hope he listens and helps me figure out what to do. Thanks for listening.

Sandy I would call that office back. They are not allowed to refuse you. If the Dr is busy there should be a time period for either you to call them back or for the Dr to call you.

Sandy, I would go into your doctors office and that way you can see your doctor. If all else, go to the hospital and they can give you a shot for your Migraine. It will make you feel better, and they can also help you lower your blood pressure. I hope you get to feeling better really soon. {{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}} Lisa

My hubby has our only car from 6 am until 7:30 at night...Friday is his first day off...I don't have anyone that could take me or that could watch my son while I go until then.

My doctor gave me Tylenol 3's with my migraines too. Theres not a whole lot you can take while you're pregnant. I was surprised that he gave me them since they have codiene in them, but they really helped and I only had to take 1. I hope you can get something worked out. They should have let you talk to the doctor or had him call you back since your bp is up and everything else. I'd just call back and request that you either talk to him or he can call you back when he has time between patients. {{{Hugs}}}

Do you have DSHS medical? If so you can call for a ride for all of you appoinments. They will pick you up from your home & then they will pick you up after your appoinment is done. Also, if you have that type of insurance you can call a taxi & tell them that you have that type of insurance & most of them will pick you up & take you to the hospital for free. You just sign a paper & they bill DSHS. They will also pick you up from the hospital & take you home. You just have a nurse call for you before they discharge you.
Also, if you are having problems with your doctor's office I would change doctors. I have done it with 3 of my children. Not sure how you feel about them but I've had midwives & most of them seem to listen to you better. I like bothe but some doctors won't give you anytype of medication where the midwives will, because some of them feel that if they can help make you feel more comfortable without hurting the baby, then the baby will be less stressed & so will you.
If codeine doesn't help with your migraine ask them for Vicoden. I have taken it while being pregnant on several occaisions & it doesn't hurt the baby.

First of all, I would recommend to stop taking regular Excedrin because the asprin in them can hurt the baby. If you want to take Excedrin, take the Asprin Free (my midwife recommended those to me anyway because of the added caffeine). Then I would seriously get to the ER or somewhere because of your blood pressure. That also can be dangerous. I would check around in your area. There are organizations here in KY that will give you a ride to the doctor and your medicaid will pay for it, provided you call the trip in 2 days in advance. You can even take your child with you (for a slight fee) if you have a car seat for him. If nothing else, you could always call an ambulance to take you to the ER and medicaid should cover the cost. I had migraines and a two year old during my last pregnancy and it's rough, but you have to try your best to relax amid the stress. Try sitting in a warm tub after your husband gets home (let him watch the baby) or after you have your son in bed. Anything to help relieve some of that stress will be good for you. Good luck with your situation....I know how bad they can be. Feel free to PM me or email me if you need to:

Vicoden is a NO NO during pregnancy It's a narcotic & I wouldn't recommend to take the chance of hurting your baby.
This what I read at a website:
Are headaches common during pregnancy?
In early pregnancy, headaches are a common discomfort and rarely means there is a serious problem. They may be related to changes in circulation and hormone levels as well as muscle tension, low blood sugar or low fluid (dehydration). Be sure to drink plenty of liquids, eliminate stresses in your life, and try comforting measures such as a warm cloth over your eyes or a shoulder massage. You may try taking Tylenol every four to six hours for further relief.
What if the headache is persistent?
If the headache is persistent, or associated with nausea and vomiting, fever, visual changes, or you are taking prescription medication, have a history of high blood pressure, migraines, sinus infections, or a chronic disease, call your health care provider for a further evaluation. Make sure you report any swelling of your hands or face.
Hon, call an ambulance, if there is no other way to get to the ER
