I recently switched from a male gynocologist to a female gynocologist and had surgery related to gyn problems and now I am reflecting on the last 10 years of care with this male gyn who everytime I told him my problems would just pat me on the tummy and smile and say that just comes along with getting older and being a girl, see ya in 6 months. Now I want to march into his office and kick him well you know where and say that just comes along with being a boy and a really bad doctor.

No kidding. My mil ended up have surgery on her breast after finally switching to a female gynocologist. The male gyno before just said what was happening with her was no big deal and we'll just watch it. Big dumb#$$!! She didn't switch for about a year due to ins. probs and then ended up having to have part of her breast removed. Perhaps if HE had been a little more of a doctor he would have really checked it out. I don't understand when something is still a problem after let's say 6 weeks, why some doctors don't start testing to find out!!
Sorry to vent in here. (((mesue)))

That makes me so mad I hope she sued his butt so he thought twice about making someone else wait and watch. I bet that lousy b@$**d would have demanded treatment instead of waiting had it been one of his body parts possibly having a problem.

It's scary to get sick anymore, between the HMO's & Doctor's being afriad of law suits they won't take care of you right anymore. And when they do they want your life savings for the co-pay part.

She didn't, but I wish she had. That is a case where I believe negligence was huge factor and do think she should have sued. It wouldn't have gotten anything back for her, but possible reprimand for so called Doc.

I had a male gyn for about 6 years. After my 2nd miscarriage he told me it was just part of being a female. I insisted on seeing specialist. His secretary had to make a copy of my complete records and Hubby had to drop them off a week before my appointment. He stopped at work on his way there and made another copy. After seeing the specialist who was as much an @ss as my GYN. I changed to a femal GYN. Lover her to death.

I had bleeding in between my cycles and when I called my dr he said wait and see. After six months and three changes of BC pills and I was still having problems getting steadily worse - now had pain, I called to make an appt and the NURSE said, I can't understand why you are making an appt for unexplained bleeding. I said to her, I bet if I were a man with unexplained bleeding from my privates, you can bet I would have been seen months ago.

My 'perv' doc is really down to earth too. He's an older guy, but he's very funny.

MK if I had a HOttie I think I might just stay. Mine was in his 60's and an @ss.
My new one is a little Indian lady. Really tiny hands.
When I had my youngest. Hubby was holding my hand while she sewed me up. SHe looked at him and said "I make her a virgin". He loves her.
I just went to her and told her about my depression and she let me cry for half an hour on her shoulder.

You want to talk about bad doctors.....my grandmother passed away at the age of 81 due to breast cancer that led to skin cancer that led to brain cancer. It was so far gone once they caught it that it was literally just months after she was diagnosed that she fell into a coma that she would never wake from. In fact, she went into a coma the morning before what was supposed to be her final chemo treatment.

After she turned 70, her doctor told her there was no need for mammograms anymore since she was as old as she was. BULL!!!! Had she gotten them regularly (yearly) she might still be with us. And yes....the doctor was a man  Not saying all male gynos are bad but this thread isn't giving them a good name.

He emails me or calls me everyday to see how I'm doing. I get all my meds for free from him (when he has them). I can cry for hours to him. It's ALL good. ;)

LMAO about the virgin thing. :D

My mother had a male gyno and complained to him for more than 3 years about abdominal pain and such he would always tell her the same thing....yeast infection. So she finally switched doctors after I bothered her constantly then come to find out she had softball size cysts on her uterus she had to get a hysterectomy. Them male doctors just don't get it with the female stuff I refuse to see males for that stuff.

Don't get me started on this subject. Oh, could I tell you some stories!! And the idiocy isn't limited to male doctors. It was a female doctor who was telling me, "Oh, this is something that women have to deal with as they get older" Uh..hello? I was only 27!! She couldn't even look me in the eye as she said it.

My family practitioner does it. He takes the best most pain less pap that I have ever had. And I get the rectal exam as well. Better that than find out that there is something wrong when it really goes wrong.

Well, I almost died ten years ago when I had a kinked intestine. I was pregnant at the time and my male gyno said it was just my uterus expanding. It's a miracle I'm alive today. BTW, I switched to another male gyno and I really like him. But that first one...
