well we had to buy a dishwasher this will be my 3rd in 10 years, gosh those things don't last long, we bought one and got it home and water was pouring out of the box coming up the steps and continued to pour out in the kitchen the hose was hooked up(usually not hooked up is usually in the machine for you to hook up) and there was water pouring out of the hose, the protective plactic sheeting covering the door was torn halfway off the door, opened the door and there is remnants of soap in the dispenser so apparently my brand new dishwasher has been used and took back to the store for some reason. I don't know if they gave it to us accidentally or what but I'm calling tomorrow and see if they will give us a clearance price on it, we bought it at Lowes which for us is an hours drive to the store, we got there an hour before they closed so taking it back was not an option since they were closed and I needed to get my dishwasher hooked up before hubby goes back to work tomorrow. So far we can't find any problems would you demand a clearance price?

I would demand either they replace it at their cost for you have no clue as to why it may have been brought back or give you a significant reduction in cost, be it refund or taken off monthly bill.

More I think about it would probably have them replace it or make sure it has awesome warranty on it.

I would demand new, you paid for it! Like kelblend said, you don't know why it was taken back. But I would see if they would knock a little off the new one for all the trouble you are having to go through;)

I would call and complain and threaten to send a letter out to planet feedback, their main headquaters..and the manufacturer...ect... They cannot re-sell a used machine without marking it down! That is illegal. They have to take off a certain % from the original cost of the product. That is how alot of things end up on clearance, because the store cannot legally pass them off as new, if they have been used. They may not have known it was used, but regardless..... Demand at least half of your money back! and see what they offer you!

Better yet, call the manufacturer and tell them what the store did to you and see what they can offer you......they may be able to force the store a little...... ( I work for whirlpool!- lol we do this all the time, and most of the time it is for major problems, like the store messed up the appliance and such.)

It may have been an error on someone's part but don't accept this machine;. You don't know what sort of condition it was in before you got it (could have been dropped or already damaged and should have been returned to the mfgr). Insist on a new machine and they should deliver it and pick up the old one for free. It wasn't your fault that they gave you a used machine.

Make them do the work for you. I am sure it was a goof but at the same time, you did nothing wrong.

That's terrible...yep...Lowes should make good on this.

As an aside. I have had two Kitchenaid dishwashers that lasted over 15 years each. I swear by these machines. First...they hold much more than other dishwashers...and they last forever. The first one we had we replaced simply because we were remodeling the kitchen. It still worked but we wanted new to match the other appliances.

The second one was still running when we sold our house.

Our new house has a GE. While I haven't used it yet, the inside looks just like my daughter's dishwasher. And it doesn't hold much.

We will probably be replacing the new dishwasher soon with another Kitchenaide...even if it is new.

Well I called and spoke with a manager over appliances and he said he would be glad to take the dishwasher back, I explained that it is an hours drive down there to the store for us and an hour back of course to return is another 2 hours plus we basically had it almost installed before we realized it had been used, that when we found the caked soap in the dispenser at any rate since the store was closed and we did not want to spend 2 days with the countertop in the floor and we was almost done we finished installing it. The best offer they gave was return it or give us a 10% discount on the one we have and they also could not tell us why it was returned. I took the 10% but I truely feel they should have given us a huge discount or offered to deliver and install a new one without any charge for that service. I think that would have been the right thing to do.

Thanks, the one we are replacing is a Hotpoint and its made by GE, I'll keep in mind what you said about Kitchenaid the next time I go shopping for one which is going by the current average is about 3 years from now, I don't understand why they always tear up so soon we usually don't buy the cheapest model but this time we did since hubby said it does not seem to matter how much we spend they tear up on an average every 3 years, we compare the cheaper model to their more expensive model of the same brand they were basically the same with just a few more features which costed more but was something we did not even use like delayed timer so we went with the cheaper model.

I totally agree that they should have given you more than a 10% discount. When we moved into our home we had to remodel the bathroom. After installing the shower/tub kit we noticed that the two mini like shelves that are on each side of the bar that holds washclothes or whatever was cracked. Not wanting to take it back down and drive it back over I called them and explained the problem. They gave us over 20% back on it (we got back $40.00 and the original cost was $188.00) so I definetly agree that they should have given you more than 10% and they should have not sold it as new when it was apparently used. I'd call back and ask for the store manager or call corporate or something.

Yep they do have delivery. Make them come out and pick up this one and give you a good discount on a new one for your trouble. What they sold you is fraud. And with a place like Lowes, The BBB is a better place to make a complaint if you don't get what you want. I bet they have a BBB logo on their window, and they can loose it for not making good with their customers. And they don't want to loose that because they will loose alot of business if they do!

10% off hardly seem worth it. It could have problems, then you will have no dishwasher. You were mislead into believing that you were buying new. I would be furious after dragging that all the way home. You should call the store manager, not just he appliance manager. If you complain enough, you will be heard.
