I am sitting up now wondering what the hell I can do for mah kitty?! It's so weird, it's almost surreal. He was fine this morning, I mean he was talkative...he's a big talker...and was cuddly like normal. I come in at 9:30 PM and he's no where to be found. I find him acting like he is trying to potty on some clothes, so I move him and he SCREAMS at me. He NEVER does that. So I pick him up and he lets me hold him...now while he's a cuddler, he's NOT one to be held.
So I take him to the bedroom, and start petting him, he's purring and acting semi-normal, then he smacks me and lets out this sound like he is possessed.
He hasn't moved all night, and when Tim tries to pet him, he screams, fluffs up and does this weird "merrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr grrrr meeeeeerrrrrrr" sound. He also sits like he is trying to go potty and just goes "mmmmerrrrrrfffffffff grrrrrrrrr feeeeeerrrrrrr"
Is it possible for him to be constipated? I don't have the money to go to the vet. But I can't stand to see him suffer like this. He sits in the statue form too and stares at us going "geeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrr". He is fixed and has been living with us for 3 years now but was abused for several years by previous owners. He 110% indoors, won't even try to sneak out, has been eating normal and was chatty all day until Tim left...so I don't know what happened between 5 and 9:30 PM. We had bad storms here, though. Could this be something to do with the atmosphere, aren't cats extra sensative?

Some cats are almost human like when they get in " bad moods ". He may just want some space for awhile. Just keep a close watch over what he is doing and if he gets worse call the vet.

At the risk of being flamed, and for the sake of the kitty, I will say this. The moon has alot to do with it. We have 4 kitties and they all are being very vocal and "goofy". One just tore down the stairs as I am typing this, like something just scared her. Maybe just see what happens, make sure it's using the box. Other than that, might have crystals in the urine, check for that.

If he's not better in the morning, I would really try getting him to the vet one way or another. I say this cause you are describing the exact manner in which my cat acted 2 days before he passed. He wasn't even 2 years old. Is it his whole body he's not liking being touched or his rear half? You weren't specific, so that could be the difference. My cat got a blood clot and the doc said when this happens they 'throw' them into the rear half of their bodies. Usually the hind legs and it very slowly kills them. There's not a thing that can be done, other than putting them down to get them out of pain. But if he's just being 'selectively pissy' and b*tching when you touch him anywhere, then LadyTiger is probably right, the full moon has a way of affecting every living creature. I was not trying to upset you w/ my post, btw, just saying if you can find a way and he's not better tomorrow... find a vet who will let you make payments... they are out there, just hard to find.

I hope your kitty will be ok. Call around for a vet who will let you make monthly payments. From what you described, kitty should definitely see a vet.
Good luck to you.

You said it looks like he's trying to potty. It sounds like he could have cystitis. Sometimes when a male cat is neutered a stricture or narrowing of the urethra can occur, causing a blockage of the urine flow. It doesn't happen right away, but once the urethra is narrowed enough to interfer with normal elimiation, small stones that normally go right through start building up in the bladder. It can be quite painful. I had this happen to two of my male cats over the years. One of them we were able to get treatment for right away and he was fine in about a week (he lived to 13 years old). The other one got outside and we didn't get to him in time. Cystitis is treatable and curable, but you need to see a vet. Mine had to take two different meds--one for a week and one for two weeks.
Hope your kitty gets better!

It's a mixature of both...it's really weird.
I mean he came in the bedroom @ 8:20 this morning (that's why I'm up so early for me) and acted like it was all fine and dandy. Next thing I know it's back to acting like he has to go potty and swinging at me.   He acts angry and like he is trying to pee and then he's back to being loving.
He hasn't ate his dinner from last night, nothing in the litter box. He even growled at me when I changed it- thinking that might be an issue.
He is letting Tim and me pet him everywhere. It's like he goes into these trances and acts weird. He is 12 or 13 years old by the way?
HELP!

Call your vet asap.....................Hot Toddie our Toy Pomeranian has this problem sometimes. It's usually constipation. If your cat has a lot of fur it will get all matted up around there and they can't go.
After 4 emergency trips to the vet and being shaved to solve the problem we keep a close watch on it, now.
I hope your cat is feeling better soon. I hate to see pets in pain/discomfort or acting out of the norm.

I was going to say that too, if you want him to survive call the vet right now. I had a cat that ended up with that & all we had to do was change his diet. Pounce, those treats for cats is what brought it on with him. He got a hold of a whole can & somehow opened it, after he ate the whole can he got clogged up.

Well, you are right... apparently just from discussion on the phone with every vet in town and there's a lot, he does have a blocked tract. *sniffle* Trouble is we don't have the money to help him... I can't get ahold of my Dad, or Mom or MIL either at this point.
I can't even help him at this point. I feel so helpless. Tim's not here, yet and how I am going to explain to my baby (kitty) that I can't help him...
I'm going to go cry some more...
I already asked every vet if they did billing and all I get is "NO!" and the phone slammed down. It only takes one to ruin it for someone else and now I'm going to lose my best fur-friend.
I'm having an emotional break down right, so if you don't see me for a few days you know why...

Could you contact your local humane society? Some of them have funds set aside that people generously donate for situations such as yours. It is worth a shot.
I hope your sweetie gets better!!!

Just called the humane society- they can pay up to $75.00, and between me and hubby we can manage the rest for the most part. Vet said they will hold a check for a month if they have to...
Trying to corrall the cat now...so much for celebrating my anniversary but I love this cat... this will not end with out a fight.
Guess I'll celebrate our anniversary at the end of the month. *sigh*
Here I go to the vet, maybe it's just an infection!

Sounds like UTI. Trying to potty in the wrong place is a common symptom. Don't worry, it's very treatable.

Okay, here's the deal...
Dusty had a MAJOR blockage... and I mean major, but he's still a lardbutt weighing in at 15.3 lbs. This whole thing cost us 185.22, minus the $75 donated from the Humane Society. So I have to round up $110.22. They say they will hold a check for up to a MONTH, so I am going to do that and just save up to pay cash. I feel like I am paying to get my kitty out of hock. LOL!
They had to sedate him, do this thing to unblock his weenis , flush his system out, and give him this special diet ($1 a can diet now), and some antibotics for a week or two. Plus 3 day hospital stay.
They called and said he was fine and it wasn't as bad as they thought, and they were trying to get him to eat but that he was more concerned with sleeping. :p
Then they said there is the chance he can "clog up" again and if that is the case he will either have to have surgery to widen his urinary tract or be put down. :( So pray for us, please.

yep, i heard about that widening thing, my sisters cat had it done I think but what they end up doing basically is turning your male putter cat into a female!

Glad to hear that kitty is on the road to recovery. He's your baby & hopefully this won't happen to him again.
I have some ideas on how you can make some extra money on the side to pay for kitty's medical: babysitting, pet sitting, clean houses, run errands for busy people. I would even go so far as to ask the vet if you can 'pay him back' by working in his office.
Good luck to you & kitty. :)

Vet called twice today- trying to save us money by letting Dusty out of the hospital today...but we were out goofing around all day and I didn't get the message til now. They are closed Sunday. Dammit man, I could of saved an extra 2 days worth of hospital stay.  :D
I guess he is doing so well that they think he will be just fine. He must be whizzing like there's no tomorrow and being chatty like normal.
So happy now!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
