I can't belive that they kept my cat captive.
I have four cats, two black ones with odd shaped tails, a brown one, and also a three legged tabby. A week before Easter one of my black cats came up missing. We looked all around the neighborhood but couldn't find Bob anywhere. Then on Easter morning I was getting ready for our Easter Party when I went out in the front yard to get some chairs out of the van when I looked up and saw the dad from next door closing his garage door kinda quickly, but before he closed it I thought I saw Bob in the garage. I told my hubby what I saw and he said "They probably got another cat". I went on about my day but during the Easter party I was telling some of our guest about what I saw plus I said it loud enough for the neighbors to hear since they were in their backyard. As soon as I said it they went back into their house.
I let it go until now. This morning I was in the bottom part of our back yard watering my garden and taking care of my pig when I hear a cat crying then frantically trying to climb the fence. And sure enough I look up and see Bob peak her head over the fence. I started calling her, and as soon as I did the I hear their back door close rather loudly. Bob came running to me and I brought her into my house. She looks good but she hasn't left my side since I brought her in.
We have had nothing but problem with these people since they moved in 4 years ago. Their kids have climbed the fence and stolen toys out of my yard. One time they took a my oldest sons baseball bag with all of his equipment that was worth around $200. They kept denying it when the dad was confronted, but one night we caught the dad sneaking it back into our garage. They also caught the garbage can on fire which was right next to our driveway where my van is parked and didn't bother to come tell us so we could move my van. I could go on and on and on about them. Lets just say we don't like them. But this takes the cake. I can't believe they held my cat captive. As soon as I see the dad I am confronting him. I can't talk to the mom because she doesn't speak English.
Wish me luck.

Not that it would help very much but call the Police department. That way you can at least make a report of this incident.

I'm glad your cat is safe. I would be raising heck. I love my cats- they are my "kids". Please let us know how it goes.

I can't see why your neighbor would steal your cat. I hope that you keep your other cats inside so that there would be no opoortunity for your cats to go lost. I really feel badly that any one would actually take another person's animal. However, if in fact, you do let your cats out, then you must take responsibility. There are way too many cats that get hit by cars or hurt by other animals.

I don't know why they would try to take my cat either, but they are very strange people. I am not prejudice person by any means but they came from a different culture and have odd ways of doing things. I could go into more detail of stuff we have had to deal with but that is not what my vent was about. We live in a pretty rural area and most of the time if I go into the backyard my cats go with me. I also have ducks, rabbits, a pig and a chicken. All kept in the back yard of couse in different pens except for the chicken and ducks. But I do not allow my cats in the front yard. They pretty much stay in the back yard or on the screened in patio when they are not in the house.

All I can say is ring their bell and ask if your cat wondered in there by mistake. Do it real nicely. If your cat has a collar on that would help.

Sounds awful! I would call the police, too. If only just to tell them what is going on. Call them every time something weird happens. That way, IF something REALLY REALLY bad happens with them, the police will have all your complaints on record and will know there is a history of weirdness. I am so sorry that is happening to you, life is hard enough!

OMG!!! These people sound like they have mental problems. Run, don't walk to the cops, it seems the misdeeds just get worse!

Yep. The cops need to be aware that there's something goin on over there. If they get reports, bla bla, the next time u catch dad in your garage putting toys back or if something else comes up missing, be on the phone w/911 and they will already have a record of prior nutcase neighbors.
{{CABANN}} I still get a chuckle about the van door fallin off months ago!! LOL

As any Cat Lover knows it's almost impossible to keep a cat inside at all times,, they are a natural born predator that is way most states do not have regulations for cats,, as for why the neighbors would take the cat? Have you ever heard the story of hansel and gretel ,,, if I was going to take anything it'd be the pork,, The other white meat:D :D :D :D I'm glad you got your cat back..

Thanks for the replies everyone.
When my hubby came home I asked him what he thinks we should do and he wants to just let it go. We got Bob back and she looks good and well taken care of. She wasn't harmed that we can tell. She does want a lot of attention and everytime I try to go into a diffenent room she is right behind my wanting to be pet and a lot of attention.
Jay (hubby) says that we can't prove that the neighbors had her, and he doesn't want any problems. They are very strange people. The mom doesn't work and is pregnant with child #6. When they moved in the already had 3 kids. The dad does tile work but these last few weeks he hasn't seem to be working as much. I don't know how they do it but they are always doing some kinda remodling job on their home. Their kids are always unsupervised in the front yard and I think the youngest is two. They keep rather strange hours also. When my nephew was staying with us he stayed in a trailor in the driveway and he said one night, around three in the morning, the dad had the two older boys changing a tire on their truck. My nephew said is was real common to hear the kids running around the front yard at all hours of the night even on school nights.
But I still for the life of me can't figure out why they kept Bob for so long. I am just happy that we got her back.
And ldavern, I will have to send you a picture of Willie (my pig) the next time I ship something off to you. He is so cute but very tempermental. I would love to see someone come try to take him. That would be a sight. If he doesn't know you he will charge, tusks and all. Most everyone who comes over is afraid of him. But I think he is a sweetie. :D :D

You should get your animals microchipped. That way there is proof positive that they have your cat if they take her again! What freaks! I am glad you have her back safe & sound!

From what you describe, these people are mental. I would definitely file a report with the police.
Most importantly, kitty is back at home & safe.

Yeah what zitra was talking about was the first thing that went through my head.I had a great aunt who lived next to people from Mexico and they ate all the cats in her neighborhood.I had never heard of this until then.So I would for sure tell the authorities about them stealing your cat.
They may have been fatten her up for the kill. There has to be some reason why they stole your cat.
I know that is gross but it is also possible.

OMG! That thought never crossed my mind that these people may have taken your cat for that reason. Keep your pets in the house! If you take them outside, don't let them out of your site as long as those crazy people are living next to you.

A couple things: What cruel people! Your cat must have been so stressed. She could probably sense how close you were to her. That is just mean. Those people need to have their heads examined (or at least knocked together a few times...I am sure a few BBS'rs would volunteer)
Ok...now can you answer me a question, and maybe you have given an explanation for this...but why do you have a female cat named Bob? I am always interested as to why people call their animals what they do. I once had a cat named Dog....cuz he thought he was one....sorry didn't mean to take your thread and run...REALLY happy you got your cat back.
