We have had 5 storms in the last 7 days some real high wind.
Lucky we have not had any real major damage just the roof off the hen house.
But was wondering if you all unplug your computer when it is lighting so bad out? I do. I do have a surge protector but don't really know it I could trust it. So to be safe the plug is pulled.

I don't unplug it during a storm but I do turn it off. I have everything plugged into a surge protector too and haven't had a problem yet.

Usually. But we are under tornado watch so we are keeping the computer turned on during this storm so we will know if it turns to a warning.

When I had dial up, I made it a point to always unplug the line from the modem. Now, w/cable, I don't really think of it.

I don't know if you guys know or not but they sell a special surge protector for computer that you plug your in phone line into then another out line to the computer and it will stop any surges that come over your phone line because they could blow your computer up too. I have one so I don't unplug mine during storms

I always do, because I don't have good luck with my computers and storms. Never lost one but have lost 3 modems, so now I not only turn off my surger protector I unplug the phone line too.

If you have a GOOD surge protector you will be just fine and dandy! If you have a modem connection, many surge protectors will allow you to hook the phone connection from the pc to the surge protector then from there to the jack.

The only problem with some surge protectors is that if a surge hits, the protector is ruined and you may NEVER know theres a problem until the next surge fries your computer. I had a blasted phone line surge protector that did that to me. Fried two modems in a row till I figured out what the problem was.

And NO I dont unplug anything. I am running on the grace of God.

I always unplug the computers and my phone line. I forgot to do it once, and my modem was fried.

I don't bother unplugging my PC, but I do shut it down.
