DD told me on the way home last night that her dad is thinking of marring a woman he has been chatting with on the internet. She lives in the town we live in, is 10 days older than me, and makes more money than I do...and works in the same town I work. hmmm, :rolleyes:

This stranger to her will be her daughter's step mother.

Yep yep yep. I think it is rather funny that DD told me. I mean, all I asked was, "Did you have a good weekend?" I still can't figure out why she told me all this.

She either told you to hurt you (I don't remember how old she is) or she told you because it is very important to her because this change is coming in her life.

Either way it's best not to comment.

She can't control who her ex dates or marries.
Why stress yourself over things you can't and shouldn't control.
Deal with your daughter and her feelings. Let her know you'll be there for her.
Instead of dreading this, take a good outlook on it!
This may be a wonderful person who will make a good role-model.
If not, she's always got her Mom;)

Ok this is just my opinion but it sounds to me like your ex just fabricated a woman that is pretty much "you" except that this one supposedly makes more money. Sounds like a big ole imagination trip if you ask me.

It sounds like your daughter is just wanting you to know whats going on since this is the end of the fantasy that her parents will get back together or she recognizes its going to cause a huge change in everyones lives she loves including hers or another thought she is trying to make you jealous of him so you might take a second look since someone else very similar wants him. Maybe she is trying to push you two back together using some imagination. You know this is the plot in a lot of movies and it always works in the movies so why not for real. Sounds like you got a smart daughter either way.
