Kellogg To Give Smaller Prizes To 'Winners'
BATTLE CREEK, Mich. -- The Kellogg company is apologizing to thousands of people who were incorrectly informed they had won a frequent-flyer miles grand prize.
The company says the culprit is a computer glitch involving its American Airlines online sweepstakes that sent out the erroneous e-mails.
The Kellogg's-American Airlines 25,000-Miles-a-Day Sweepstakes started April 7 and continues now that the glitch has been fixed.
Only 60 grand prizes -- one per day -- were supposed to be awarded.
Each grand prize has a retail value of $700.
Kellogg spokeswoman Christine Ervin said that as a goodwill gesture, the company will issue credits for 500 frequent flyer miles to each household that received the erroneous message.
I just had to share this :)
