Just need to whine, vent, something!!!

DH had shoulder surgery on the 17th, and he put in for disability pay for while he was off, and they approved it. Well, they ended up pulling his vacation pay from the week before to put towards the other pay, messing us up when it comes to bills and such like, but then today, we get a letter in the mail saying he'll get a check thru May 7th!! He's off until June 17th! Grrrrrrrrrr, what do they expect a family to do? I'm trying not to stress it too much, cause he'll be getting a student loan check around the 10th of May, but it's not gonna go far, UGH!!!!!!

Jade,
who do you see about getting disability pay?
My DH needs foot surgery and will be out of work for about 8-10 weeks and I don't know what the heck we are going to do for that long with no income!

{{{jade}}} I think I would be making some phone calls tomorrow morning. Maybe it was just an error that can be straightened out. It's a hassle, though, I know.

That's not uncommon. Most disability doesn't begin for 7 to 10 days after the injury. With many companies you have to use all of your other leave (vacation and sick time) before disability kicks in. That way you have used up all of your days you are entitled to before they start paying. I don't think that it's fair but its the way these plans are worded.

sunnymoonx- My dh works at Meijer (like a super Wal-Mart), he just went to HR person at the store and we got all the paperwork done.


schsa- We went on vacation right before his surgery, so they should've given him that with the next check, but instead they pulled it and are putting it towards his disability pay. I was expecting that money to pay bills, ugh, but that screws us up by two weeks, cause this last check was only for the two days he did work before the surgery.
