APRIL 16--Meet Montell Howard. The 21-year-old Wisconsin man was just busted for assaulting the Easter Bunny. According to this police report, Howard roughed up a man dressed as the friendly rabbit during a visit to a Wausau mall. The bunny, 29-year-old Travis Peterson, was greeting children when Howard allegedly jumped into his lap and and started smashing him in the head. The assailant then put the Easter Bunny in a headlock and punched the rabbit in the mouth, as young mallgoers watched aghast. Howard, who did not know Peterson, was apprehended Monday when he returned to the Wausau Center mall, where security guards recognized him as the bunny batterer. Howard--whose rap sheet includes convictions for battery, domestic abuse, and drug distribution--was arrested this time for disorderly conduct. Prosecutors with the Marathon County District Attorney's office are now reviewing the assault case. Many thanks to our friends at the Wausau Daily Hearld, who broke the bunny story and provided TSG with the police reports. (3 pages)

Well, I am glad that they caught this moron!! I have been the Easter Bunny, along with being an elf for Santa, among other things at the mall. I have gotten my tail yanked off, my ears pulled off, and tripped all the time! Kids think it's funny, like the teenagers, let me tell ya, those heads are heavy. I had to be guided by a helper most of time, because I couldn't look down to see where I was walking, let alone run after an idiot that yanked my ears off and ran! People are just so stupid sometimes!

I confess..."bunny beater" had me laughing out loud.

I know what those costumes are like. As a Disney employee, I once did a week-long training session where we ended the week at Disneyland. The whole training thing was to immerse you in the entire "Disney Experience". It is great training which includes a stint "in character". I did this in the month December and it was cold and I was still sweating like crazy in the costume.

I have the utmost respect for those who wear the character costumes. It is HARD work.

Someone patted my butt...I've always hoped it was a child...LOL!

(Please don't sue Disney because you thought the characters were real and I have now spoiled it for you.)

It is funny to think of a Bunny Beater, but those poor kids having to watch it! My husband tries to get my son to be mean to the people in costume, but thankfully my son is a better person! He loves giving them Hugs! We went to the zoo for halloween and easter, and they have people dressed up as different animals, and he has to hug all of them!
